And Sabrina Peterson Set For Defamation Trial In 2026 https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-sabrina-peterson-set-for-defamation-trial-in-2026/ https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-sabrina-peterson-set-for-defamation-trial-in-2026/#respond Tue, 27 May 2025 18:37:32 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=152788 A legal showdown between T.I. and Sabrina Peterson is officially on the horizon, with a Los Angeles judge setting a trial date for the rapper’s defamation lawsuit. T.I. took legal action in December 2024, accusing Peterson of spreading false statements online, including a damaging claim that he was being investigated by federal authorities for sex trafficking.

This court battle traces back to 2021, when Peterson, once close to the Harris family, filed her own suit against T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris. She accused them of defamation, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress. Her allegations included an incident where T.I. allegedly pointed a gun at her. Peterson also claimed the couple sought to tarnish her reputation publicly after she spoke out.

In June 2023, Peterson suffered a major setback. Five of her seven claims were dismissed. Only the defamation and invasion of privacy claims remained. She then struggled to pay nearly $100,000 in court-ordered legal fees to T.I. and Tiny, requesting a $1,000 monthly payment plan due to financial hardship. Ultimately, her case was dismissed without prejudice in March 2025. This was due to inactivity and failure to pay. The contempt charge related to the unpaid fees was also dropped.

Following this dismissal, T.I. filed his own suit, alleging that Peterson’s Instagram posts and livestreams caused harm to his reputation and invaded his privacy.

Before the case goes to trial, both sides must attend a court-ordered settlement conference. This meeting will be with a private mediator. It must take place by November 24, 2025. If either party fails to show, the trial will be halted. If no settlement is reached, the trial is scheduled to begin on June 9, 2026.

T.I. Defends Tiny During Live Show https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-defends-tiny-during-live-show/ https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-defends-tiny-during-live-show/#respond Thu, 01 May 2025 21:26:00 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=151352 T.I. is once again showing the world he doesn’t play when it comes to protecting his wife, Tiny. During a recent performance, the Atlanta rapper stopped everything mid-show after a situation involving Tiny unfolded in the crowd to defend her. Though the exact details remain unclear, T.I.’s reaction made it obvious he wasn’t going to tolerate any disrespect.

In a clip shared by The Neighborhood Talk, T.I. is seen jumping off the stage to confront someone in the audience over what happened with Tiny. After the confrontation, he issued a clear warning to the crowd: “Leave her alone,” he said. “I’ll flip the table.”

Fans on social media praised T.I. for standing up for his wife. “Y’all know this man don’t play about Tiny!!! Please find someone else to mess with,” one person commented. Another added, “I knew he didn’t play about her when he ran up on Floyd,” referencing a past incident involving boxer Floyd Mayweather. Several fans also pointed out that their son King was quick to defend his mother as well.

This isn’t the first time T.I. has gone all out for Tiny. On Valentine’s Day, he stepped out in a poncho with her face on it. Tiny posted the look on Instagram, writing, “My man don’t miss a moment to let me know I’m over loved & adored… he out did himself with this poncho out in them Atlanta streets representing his lady & ofc as u can see he’s really full of himself too!! @tip I love my King.”

The couple also recently scored a legal win. In March, a judge dismissed Sabrina Peterson’s defamation lawsuit against them, citing her failure to move the case forward. Between personal loyalty and legal victories, T.I. and Tiny remain a tight unit.

T.I. and Tiny Prevail as Judge Tosses Defamation Lawsuit https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-tiny-prevail-as-judge-tosses-defamation-lawsuit/ https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-tiny-prevail-as-judge-tosses-defamation-lawsuit/#respond Wed, 26 Mar 2025 17:49:37 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=149327 In a decisive ruling, a court has dismissed Sabrina Peterson’s defamation lawsuit against T.I. and Tiny, closing a contentious legal battle. As reported by Rolling Stone, during a court session held on March 24, Judge Shultz expressed disappointment over Peterson’s inadequate efforts to advance her case, labeling her inaction as “inexcusable.” The legal disputes began in 2021 when Peterson accused T.I. and Tiny of drugging and sexually abusing multiple women, alongside allegations that the rapper threatened her with a firearm in front of her children.

Initially, five out of seven claims were dismissed, prompting the couple to file a countersuit for substantial legal fees, which they successfully secured in October 2023. Despite multiple court orders mandating the repayment of nearly $96,000, Peterson has reportedly failed to make any payments, leading to renewed scrutiny in court this week.

During the proceedings, Peterson claimed financial hardship, proposing a manageable repayment plan of $1,000 per month to settle the debt. However, Judge Shultz highlighted the lack of any payment over the past 17 months and questioned Peterson’s commitment to her own lawsuit. T.I. and Tiny’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, emphasized that Peterson had made no substantial moves to progress her claims, which further justified the court’s decision to dismiss the case entirely.

“The case was filed on March 1, 2021, and it has now been four years and 23 days. The court finds that the plaintiff has failed to prosecute the case. The case is dismissed,” Judge Shultz stated, reinforcing the notion of accountability in legal proceedings.

In the aftermath of the ruling, Peterson shared her relief with Rolling Stone, stating, “I’m relieved it’s finally over. It’s been four or five years, and I’m really tired.” However, the conclusion of this case appears to mark the beginning of another legal challenge, as she was served with a new defamation lawsuit from T.I. as she entered the courtroom, indicating that the legal entanglements for both parties may not be entirely resolved.

Megan Thee Stallion Claims Most Rappers Are “Tiny” https://www.hot97.com/news/megan-thee-stallion-claims-most-rappers-are-tiny/ https://www.hot97.com/news/megan-thee-stallion-claims-most-rappers-are-tiny/#respond Tue, 28 Jan 2025 15:39:27 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=145841 Megan Thee Stallion is setting the record straight on her height and laughing off common misconceptions.

During a recent appearance in Paris, the “Savage” rapper sat down with Mystery Fashionist’s Ajay Porter to discuss everything from her style essentials to her stature, which has become a frequent topic of conversation.

“I love my tall queens. We’re stallions—long-legged, thick queens—but people exaggerate my height,” said Megan, who is 5’10”. “Guys edit pictures to make me look like a giant next to them. They try to make it seem like I’m towering over everyone. I’m tough, but I’m not that tall.”

She couldn’t help but poke fun at the situation, adding, “These men are small. A lot of your favorite rappers are tiny. When they stand next to me, they’re looking up, and I’m like, ‘Yeah.’”

During the interview, Megan—dressed in a striking Marine Serre catsuit—was asked to rate her look. Without hesitation, she declared, “I’m always a 10, no matter what.” She also showed off her heart-shaped Chanel handbag, a souvenir from Japan, while cheekily adding, “And, b**ch, just some boots.”

The Texas-born artist then shared her five fashion must-haves: “I need a good bag, booty shorts, baggy pants, and a fitted cap.” For her final pick, she emphasized the power of a scarf. “The right scarf can pull any outfit together. When you want to add a little spice, a little hot sauce—period.”

Touching on misconceptions about fashion, Megan shared her philosophy. “People always try to dictate what’s cool, but I think cool people make the clothes cool, not the other way around. You can wear anything and elevate it. The outfit shouldn’t make you—you should make the outfit.”

This lively interview marked one of Megan’s first public appearances of the year. In December 2024, she took a well-deserved social media hiatus after the release of MEGAN, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words and MEGAN: ACT II. Now, she’s back, proving once again why she’s a force to be reckoned with, both in music and fashion.

T.I. And Tiny’s Huge Lawsuit Victory Reportedly Could Be Reduced By Judge https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-tinys-huge-lawsuit-payout-reportedly-may-get-cut-down-by-federal-judge/ https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-tinys-huge-lawsuit-payout-reportedly-may-get-cut-down-by-federal-judge/#respond Tue, 07 Jan 2025 17:23:17 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=144664 T.I. and Tiny’s significant lawsuit victory could be reduced by a federal judge.

As previously reported, rapper T.I. and his wife, singer-songwriter Tiny, along with the OMG Girlz, secured a $71 million win in their legal battle against MGA Entertainment, the toy company accused of infringing on the intellectual property of their girl group. The lawsuit focused on MGA’s L.O.L. Surprise! brand, with the couple alleging that the O.M.G. doll line mimicked the group’s likeness and style.

Initially, the family was awarded $17.87 million in actual damages and $53.62 million in punitive damages. At the time, T.I. celebrated the win, saying, “Justice was served. They were the ones who came and ripped us off, and I guess they expected us to not have the audacity to stand up and speak for ourselves.”

It now appears that the victory may be adjusted. Reports indicate that a federal judge is considering reducing the amount awarded in damages.

Journalist Meghann Cuniff has reported that the judge may plan to lower the $53.6 million in punitive damages while maintaining the $17.8 million for actual damages. The judge has cited a lack of sufficient evidence to support claims of bad faith.

T.I., Tiny, & OMG Girlz Awarded $71 Million Against MGA Entertainment https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-tiny-omg-girlz-awarded-71-million-against-mga-entertainment/ https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-tiny-omg-girlz-awarded-71-million-against-mga-entertainment/#respond Tue, 24 Sep 2024 12:52:24 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=138194 Rapper T.I. and his wife, singer-songwriter Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, and the OMG Girlz, have won a staggering $71 million in their lawsuit against MGA Entertainment, the toy giant accused of infringing on the intellectual property of their teen pop group. The dispute centered around MGA’s popular L.O.L. Surprise! The couple claimed the O.M.G. doll line copied the girl group’s likeness and style.

According to the Daily Journal, which first reported the verdict, the jury awarded the couple $17.8 million in actual damages, along with an additional $53.6 million in punitive damages following a three-week trial in a federal court in Santa Ana, California.

This marks the third attempt by the Grammy-winning duo to sue MGA. Their first trial, in January of last year, ended in a mistrial after jurors heard barred testimony accusing MGA of cultural appropriation. A second trial later that year ruled in favor of MGA. However, the case was reopened after a June 2023 Supreme Court decision ruled that consumer confusion over a product should play a more significant role in infringement cases. In this retrial, the jury found that seven of the 32 dolls presented had indeed copied the OMG Girlz’s distinctive style and trade dress, though not all the dolls were deemed to have infringed. Some, interestingly, were found to have drawn inspiration from other iconic artists like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.

During the proceedings, T.I.’s attorney, John Keville, urged the jury to penalize MGA with an additional $35 to $72 million, sending a strong message to the company about intellectual property rights. He also presented social media evidence showing consumers who believed the dolls were modeled after the OMG Girlz. After the verdict, Keville thanked the jurors for “standing up to MGA’s bullying and misrepresentations.”

The OMG Girlz, formed by T.I. and Tiny in 2009, featured Tiny’s daughter Zonnique “Star” Pullins as a core member, alongside Bahja “Beauty” Rodriguez and Breaunna “Babydoll” Womack. Though the group has since disbanded, they reunited last year and are currently on tour with a new single that dropped in early August. The trio attended the trial and testified, with T.I. and Tiny asserting that the dolls directly mimicked the group’s appearance at various public events.

This legal battle, which has spanned years, brings an important resolution for the couple and underscores the broader conversation around protecting the creative expression and intellectual property of Black artists.

T.I. And Tiny Seeks Dismissal Of 2005 Sexual Assault Lawsuit https://www.hot97.com/news/t-i-and-tiny-seeks-dismissal-of-2005-sexual-assault-lawsuit/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 20:04:39 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=130875 T.I. and his wife Tiny are seeking dismissal of a 2005 sexual assault lawsuit.

According to reports, an Air Force veteran who is being named Jane Doe in the lawsuit, claimed that after meeting the couple at a Los Angeles club in 2005, they drugged her, took her back to their hotel room and then raped her.

The lawsuit states that she is suing the couple for sexual assault, battery, negligence, and false imprisonment.

T.I. and Tiny previously denied those allegations. In a statement the couple says “on the heels of positivity, negativity always rears its ugly head. This plaintiff has been threatening to file this lawsuit for THREE years. For THREE years, we have emphatically and categorically denied these allegations For THREE years we have maintained our innocence and refused to pay these extortionate demands for things we didn’t do For THREE years, we’ve maintained the same position while the claims in this story have changed time and time again.”

The couple has reportedly filed a motion in the case, citing that the “statue of limitations have expired and that it should be dismissed in its entirety.”

The couple’s court documents state, “Here, at best, Plaintiff had up to December 31, 2007, to file the instant lawsuit based on the facts alleged in the Complaint…As such, this instant lawsuit, filed over sixteen years past that statutory deadline – 18 years after the facts alleged in the Complaint occurred is time-barred, along with all the claims asserted in the Complaint.”

They added, “There are no facts whatsoever that could redeem or revive any actionable claims by Plaintiff against Defendants based on the 2005 encounter alleged in the Complaint.”
