Shaquille O’Neal’s Jersey Legends is set to release Power Moves, a new six-episode docuseries featuring the return to prominence of the footwear and apparel brand Reebok. The series will be available for streaming across the globe on Netflix on June 4.

According to Deadline, Power Moves “offers an all-access look at O’Neal’s latest and boldest endeavor — stepping into the role of President of Reebok Basketball and leading the iconic brand’s comeback alongside Vice President and fellow NBA legend Allen Iverson.” Filmed in Boston at Reebok’s headquarters and across the country, the docuseries chronicles Reebok’s cultural revival under O’Neal and Iverson’s leadership.

Additionally, Power Moves docuseries captures the signing of WNBA star Angel Reese to Reebok’s first NIL deal following O’Neal’s appointment and the creation of new initiatives that will draw in young athletes and impact communities.

In a statement, O’Neal shared more details about the series.

Power Moves isn’t just about sneakers or titles. It’s about showing the work behind building something meaningful. This series shows the strategy, setbacks, and wins of what it really takes to lead a brand you love,” O’Neal said. “Reebok gave me my start, and now I get to help write its next chapter.”

“There’s a powerful shift happening at Reebok right now, and Power Moves lets the world experience it with us,” said the company’s CEO, Todd Krinsky. “This isn’t just a comeback, it’s a cultural movement, fueled by purpose, passion, and the kind of leadership that inspires real change. Jersey Legends saw that spark and knew this was the moment to capture. What Shaq, Allen, and our team are building is electric, and this series brings viewers inside the heart of it, as it happens.”

Beginning his relationship with Reebok in 1992,  O’Neal signed a lucrative deal with the brand just before his rookie NBA season with the Orlando Magic.

Before O’Neal and Iverson joined the leadership team of the company, Reebok experienced a steep decline that lasted almost two decades. Things for Reebok changed in 2005 when Adidas acquired Reebok for $3.8 billion, but the brand never rebounded.

In 2021, Adidas sold Reebok to Authentic Brands Group, which had a reputation for turning around legacy brands.

Shaquille O’Neal Tested Postive For Cocaine After Eating Poppyseeds At 96 Olympics https://www.hot97.com/news/shaquille-oneal-tested-postive-for-cocaine-after-eating-poppyseeds-at-96-olympics/ https://www.hot97.com/news/shaquille-oneal-tested-postive-for-cocaine-after-eating-poppyseeds-at-96-olympics/#respond Sat, 22 Feb 2025 02:32:04 +0000 In the words of the late Rick James, “Cocaine is a helluva drug.”

At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Shaquille O’Neal revealed that he tested positive for cocaine because of eating poppy seeds.

The Basketball Hall of Famer and co-host of Inside the NBA shared the story as he, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson weighed in on Bobby Portis’ suspension. The Milwaukee Bucks forward said he accidentally took medication for severe pain but it was discovered that he took a banned substance.

Taking issue with some aspects of the NBA’s drug policy, O’Neal recalled his drug testing experience.

“Olympics, ‘96, Atlanta,” O’Neal said. “They told us not to eat before we took the drug test.”

O’Neal went on to say that he ate a poppyseed muffin before taking the test.

“Horace Balmer walks in and says ‘Man, I’m disappointed in you.’ I test positive for cocaine,” O’Neal said.

Knowing that he was not a cocaine user, he found out that the poppy seeds were the source of the failed test

.“They did the research and the poppyseed muffins had the same derivatives as cocaine,” he explained.

The four-time NBA champion said that the league is not clear about substances that have the same derivatives as banned ones.

“They tell you not to take this, that, and that,” O’Neal argued. “That ‘something’ that’s not on the list can be a derivative of something you’re not supposed to take and you can mess up that way.”

For his incident, Portis was suspended for 25 games by the league. Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports and Portis agent, said that his client took substance by accident.

“I am devastated for Bobby right now because he made an honest mistake and the ramifications of it are incredibly significant,” Bartelstein said.

“Bobby unintentionally took a pain medication called tramadol, thinking he was taking a pain medication called Toradol. Toradol is an approved pain medication that he has used previously and that teams and players use for pain and inflammation at times. Tramadol, however, is not an approved pain medication and was just recently added to the banned substance list this past spring,” he continued.

During a live broadcast of the show, Shaq suddenly ran off the studio set with a bathroom emergency.

In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Shaq gave his side of the story.

“I was drinking a lot of water that day, so I know I had the No. 2 run, but it was really a No. 1, let’s just get that out the way,” O’Neal said, adding he had been drinking a lot of olive oil.

“What is going on? And why were you drinking olive oil?” Fallon asked.

“I’m drinking olive oil because I want to be sexy. That’s what it said on Instagram, it said if you drink olive oil for 14 days, it’ll clear stuff out and you’ll get yourself a flat stomach,” O’Neal said. “So, I was trying it.”

Shaq then revealed that he wasn’t being honest with Fallon.

“It wasn’t a No. 1 run, it was a No. 2 run. I had to go bad. Oh, I had to go so bad! I had to go so bad,” Shaq said.

“Did you see me squeeze my butt cheeks when I was running?,” he continued.

Then Fallon showed the audience a photo of what took place on Inside the NBA the next day. Producers brought out a portable toilet next to the co-host’s desk just in case Shaq had another emergency during the show.

“I like it because I never know what’s going to happen,” Fallon said. “Nothing’s predictable.”

Angel Reese Faces Backlash For Teasing DaBaby Interview https://www.hot97.com/news/angel-reese-faces-backlash-for-teasing-dababy-interview/ https://www.hot97.com/news/angel-reese-faces-backlash-for-teasing-dababy-interview/#respond Mon, 10 Mar 2025 21:30:00 +0000 Angel Reese is once again facing major backlash, this time for teasing an upcoming interview with DaBaby. The rapper has been a controversial figure since 2021, when he made inflammatory comments about women and the LGBTQ+ community during his Rolling Loud performance.

Over the weekend, Reese and her podcast team, @AngelReeseShow on X, announced they were preparing to film an episode of Unapologetically Angel with DaBaby. Since launching her podcast in September 2024, the WNBA star has welcomed big names like Shaquille O’Neal, Lisa Leslie, Lonzo Ball, GloRilla, and Latto. However, the choice to feature DaBaby quickly sparked outrage.

In a now-deleted post, Reese’s team asked followers to submit questions for the rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk. The reaction was swift. Many criticized Reese for aligning herself with someone widely condemned for offensive remarks.

Social media users didn’t hold back, questioning why Reese, who has a diverse fanbase, would platform DaBaby. One person called the decision disappointing, while another pointed out that even years later, DaBaby’s past comments still haven’t been forgotten. Some mentioned her connection to Megan Thee Stallion. They questioned how she could support someone with such a polarizing history.

It remains unclear if the interview will still happen. As of now, Reese’s team has deleted posts promoting the episode and has not addressed the backlash. Some fans have even criticized her for seemingly backing down in response to the negative reactions. Whether she moves forward with the interview or not, her decision has clearly divided her supporters.

T-Pain Says Snoop Made Auto-Tune Cool https://www.hot97.com/news/t-pain-says-snoop-made-auto-tune-cool/ https://www.hot97.com/news/t-pain-says-snoop-made-auto-tune-cool/#respond Mon, 10 Mar 2025 17:43:46 +0000 T-Pain’s signature use of Auto-Tune wasn’t always embraced, at least not until Snoop Dogg made it “cool.” In a recent interview on The Big Podcast With Shaq, the rapper and singer opened up about the initial pushback he faced for his Auto-Tuned vocals.

“Oh, that’s all there was,” T-Pain told Shaquille O’Neal when asked if he encountered resistance early on. “It was only resistance, until somebody cool did it. Who did that? Who made it cool? Snoop. Snoop did it, and it was totally fine. Everybody was like, okay, I guess we can listen to it.”

Though he didn’t specify, T-Pain was likely referring to Snoop’s 2007 hit “Sensual Seduction.” At the time, Snoop himself admitted he was trying to “put a little T-Pain on it” when he used Auto-Tune on the track.

Meanwhile, T-Pain has been shutting down rumors about his financial situation after fans speculated he was broke for flying commercial instead of taking a private jet. He clapped back in a big way, by giving fans a tour of his luxurious yacht.

The singer, currently living it up on his boat, made sure to share footage of his lavish setup for anyone doubting his wealth.

This comes just days after he posted a video on Instagram breaking down the high cost of private air travel. T-Pain, while seated on a plane, titled the clip: “You wanna know how much a private jet costs?” He then revealed an app on his phone showing the price of a round-trip Gulfstream flight from Atlanta to Las Vegas, $126,574.

Shaq Teases Unreleased Jay-Z & Nas Collaboration On Upcoming Album https://www.hot97.com/news/shaq-teases-unreleased-jay-z-nas-collaboration-upcoming-album/ Thu, 27 Jun 2024 23:41:11 +0000 The original version of Shaquille O’Neal‘s “No Love Lost,” featuring Jay-Z, Nas, and Lord Tariq, will finally debut on Friday (June 28) as part of his You Can’t Stop the Reign album’s streaming release.

On Wednesday (June 26), Shaquille O’Neal announced on Instagram the upcoming release of his third studio album to digital streaming platforms, featuring a ’90s gem.

“You can’t stop the Reign coming to DSPs Friday,” he wrote. “Unreleased Jay-Z + Nas track included.”

Check out the post below.

In a 2022 appearance on Drink Champs, the four-time NBA champion discussed the delayed release of the track, stating: “People didn’t clear it, but I didn’t take it personal – Me being in the studio with Nas, I’m happy. I get to call my boy and say, ‘Come over, Nas here.’ I get to call my boy and say, ‘Jay in here.’ I get to call my boys and say, ‘Yo, Biggie at the house, he ’bout to jump in the seat.’ That’s what it’s all about.”

Reflecting on his musical dreams, realizing they were more like free throws than slam dunks in the paycheck department, he added: “And not to disrespect you guys, it wasn’t enough money in that for me,” he added. “I went platinum, right? And they showed me the check, and I was like, ‘This some bullsh*t.’”

The news follows Shaq sharing a similar instance collaborating with Ice Cube, recalling how the West Coast rap legend vetoed a song produced by Dr. Dre, citing concerns about its overall theme.

On The Big Podcast, Shaq and Cube recalled the time Cube pulled a rap ‘audible’ and benched ‘That’s Gangsta,’ produced by Dr. Dre. Big Diesel revealed that the West Coast legend, also an executive producer on his project, called the play to sit the track out.”

“Cube was executive producing one of my records,” said Shaq. “And he put me in the studio with Dr. Dre. I did a song called ‘That’s Gangsta.’ Cube heard it and was like, ‘Nope. We’re not releasing this.’ Dre did the beat.”

He continued: “I thought it was nice … And then I played it for Cube … He was like, ‘Shaq, you’re a fucking Laker, bro. I don’t want you talking about nothing gangsta. We not doing none of that shit.’ And it never came out.”

Still, Shaq promises a cultural blast from the past, with the upcoming “No Love Lost” featuring Jay-Z and Nas. Will you be streaming?
