Carmelo Anthony Elected To Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame

Carmelo Anthony, a ten-time NBA All-Star and a six-time All-NBA selection, has officially been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025, CBS Sports reported.

Anthony was one of the 17 finalists announced by the Hall of Fame in February. The entire class of 2025 will be announced on Saturday at the Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, but Anthony’s induction has leaked ahead of time.

Selected with the number three overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Anthony began his illustrious career with the Denver Nuggets and then the New York Knicks. He also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers before retiring.

Anthony won the scoring title in 2013 and was named to the NBA’s 75th anniversary team in 2020.

As a collegian for the Syracuse Orange, Anthony played only one season where he won the 2003 NCAA championship and earned Most Outstanding Player honors along the way. The title remains the only national championship in 2003.

With USA Basketball, he won a bronze medal in 2004 followed by three straight gold medals during the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Games, finishing as the most-decorated American men’s Olympic basketball player of all time.

During an episode of his podcast 7 PM in Brooklyn, Anthony spoke about what Hall og 

“For me, that’s it. There’s nothing else in basketball I can do,” Anthony said on his podcast after learning about his nomination. “That’s the pinnacle, that’s the door. When you think about Hall of Famers who are already in there and the way they opened up the door for you, that’s a special moment. I’m going to embrace this. I’m enjoying this.”

Accompanying Anthony as the headliner of the 2025 class is Dwight Howard, who one a championship with the Lakers in 2020 and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Billy Donovan and Mark Few are candidates on the coaching side, while Sue Bird and Maya Moore are also candidates to be elected.
