Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Holocaust, also known as Warlcloud, has passed away while in police custody. The 45-year-old rapper, whose real name was Anthony Creston Brown, was a member of the Black Knights group featured on Wu-Tang’s 1998 The Swarm album and contributed to RZA’s Bobby Digital solo projects.

Holocaust was being held at the maximum-security Theo Lacy Facility in Orange County, California, where he was found unresponsive on Sunday afternoon, December 29th. According to a press release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, “Preliminarily, there are no suspicious circumstances. A final cause of death will be determined following an independent autopsy and toxicology.” Authorities also announced plans to conduct an in-custody death review to investigate the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Holocaust had been arrested earlier that week on theft charges and later faced drug possession charges while in custody. However, it remains unclear whether these charges played a role in his death.

Christ Bearer, another Wu-Tang affiliate, reacted to the news on Instagram, expressing his frustration and disbelief: “I’m in contact with his Aunt, who just told me as I told her this shit ain’t right. Sun did more time for mental illness than hardened criminals and now he die in they custody. I call BS! Anyways RIP to one of the GREATEST TO EVER DO IT.” He also mentioned the possibility of a GoFundMe campaign to assist Holocaust’s family.

Fans took to social media to share their grief and celebrate Holocaust’s contributions to hip-hop. His untimely death has left many mourning the loss of a talented artist and questioning the circumstances of his final days.
