The controversial mayor was recently indicted on federal corruption charges earlier this week. In a shocking revelation, Cam’ron claims that the Mayor’s office contacted him about receiving an honorary key, but he declined.

“You know what’s crazy? This is word to everything I love,” Cam’ron began. “Last month, they called me to see if I wanted the key to the city. I said, ‘I don’t want to be involved with nothin.’ He continues: “They offered me that sh*t. They said, ‘Cam, you want the key?’ I said, ‘That ain’t really up my alley right now, I’m cool with the key to New York City, man.’”

Cam’ron Talks Old Actors & Diddy

In other news, Cam’ron recently shared his thoughts on aging actors and action films. In his opinion, the old-timers should ease up on the high-octane roles. He specifically noted Denzel Washington and The Equalizer franchise.  “I love Denzel Washington as an actor; I’m not watching him do karate at 71 years old and all that… he’s a great actor, but when n*ggas start doing karate in they 70s, I can’t believe the movie. I can’t fuck with Denzel being the Equalizer at 70.”

Cam’ron has never been one to mince words. In May, the rapper joined CNN for probably one of its most chaotic interviews ever. When asked by a reporter about his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Diddy, he made it clear while he didn’t agree with his actions, he didn’t feel that it was his place to speak on the subject. He seemed more confused to why he was even asked to interview in the first place. “Who’s the talent agent for this joint? You think I be sitting around watching what Diddy do? I didn’t know this was a Diddy joint that y’all invited me to. Who booked me for this joint?”

‘It Is What It Is’ Slams Elliott Wilson On Social Media https://www.hot97.com/news/it-is-what-it-is-slams-elliot-wilson-on-social-media/ https://www.hot97.com/news/it-is-what-it-is-slams-elliot-wilson-on-social-media/#respond Thu, 02 Jan 2025 00:09:11 +0000 Cam’ron and Mase seem to be upset with Elliott Wilson.

The Instagram account for Cam’ron and Mase’s sports show, It Is What It Is, took shots at the journalist on Tuesday night, (December 31) for his remarks during an appearance on the Rory and Mal podcast.

“THE YEAR JUST STARTED & WE JUST CHILLING MINDING OUR BUSINESS SIPPING [champagne emoji]. HERE COME THIS ‘CUBAN GOODING JR’ LOOKING MUTHAFU*KA WITH HIS SALTY HATING AZZ,” the caption read. “HEY YO @elliottwilson YOU WASHED & NOBODY IS CHECKING FOR YOU. #WETHENEWSOURCE GET USE TO IT [clown emoji] YOU A BONA FIED HATER AT IT’s FINEST.”

“HEY @elliottwilson THEN YOU GOT SOME NERVE TO BE FOLLOWING US. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE WE DON’T FOLLOW YOU [clown emoji],” another post read. “SO WITH THAT BEING SAID “CURVE” YA BREATH STANK, IF “PUN” WAS ALIVE HE WILL TELL YOU GO THAT WAY.”

On the show, Wilson said that podcasters like Cam’ron are thriving in the media. But they lack the education and credentials in journalism. He also said that  Cam is not better than he is, but gets clicks because of his celebrity status.

“Everybody’s media. Summer Walker is media. Cam’ron is running around like he’s Stephen A Smith. It’s what we’re doing,” Willson said.

When Wilson was asked if  Shannon Sharpe was a journalist, he argued that it was not a fair comparison.

“That’s where the athlete becomes the media. It’s easier,” Wilson said. “Charles Barker, that’s an easy transition.

Rory and Mal then asked why is it easier in music than in the sports realm.

“It’s not easy, but I don’t like it…. Imagine, like, this is the sh*t I do well, and now everybody wants to do it. I don’t like that sh*t and not be a hater,” Wilson said.

Wilson then mentioned that he’s not feeling Cam’s interview style.

“It’s cringeworthy. I watched this sh*t,” he said. “This ain’t popping. What’s the Cam’ron interview you were like ‘Cam’ron’s really asking questions. What are you talking about?”

Cam’ron Rips Into Jim Jones in an Unfiltered, Extended Rant https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-rips-into-jim-jones-in-an-unfiltered-extended-rant/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-rips-into-jim-jones-in-an-unfiltered-extended-rant/#respond Mon, 13 Jan 2025 18:21:49 +0000 Reports indicate that Cam’ron unleashed a furious tirade, further fueling the ongoing feud with Jim Jones. The rapper opened season six of It Is What It Is alongside Ma$e, directly addressing Jones’ recent comments in a conversation with Justin Laboy. Cam denied Jones’ story about their shared upbringing, calling it false. He also refuted Jones’ account of Ma$e disrespecting him after joining Diddy’s Bad Boy. He declared, “You’re a guardian angel in designer, n-gga. You are from the Bronx, bro. You are not from Harlem. I did not grow up with you, my n-gga.”

Cam explained their friendship began only after Jones sought him out, following the buzz around his early mixtapes. These projects, alongside freestyles, featured collaborations with Ma$e, Big L, and his cousin Bloodshed—some tracks were played during their conversation. He stated, “You wasn’t there, n-gga! We were super-duper popping in the street. Everybody knew we were about to get a record deal.” “Basically, you heard our freestyles and you came up to me one day and you said, ‘Yo man, I heard the freestyles. Y’all killing shit. My grandmother died if y’all wanna come by and just hang out, y’all more than welcome.’” He continued, “You were fanned out and you begged n-ggas to come to your house after you heard all these mixtapes. That’s how you got in, n-gga.”

Cam’ron went on to point out that Ma$e was the one who taught Jim Jones to rap, sharing multiple clips where Jones himself acknowledges it. He questioned, “We taught you how to rap, n-gga. How you ran the whole organization? How you made Diplomats?” “N-gga, you ain’t made none of this! You were a fan. I put you down ’cause you had a free crib and you were a nice guy.”

Cam’ron Fires Back at Jones’ Accusations, Calling Out Betrayal and Hypocrisy

The “Killa Cam” rapper criticized Jones’ claim that he and 50 Cent were “dickriding” by bringing up their 2007 performance with the G-Unit star.

Cam’ron viewed that moment as a betrayal, and Jones’ recent comments only deepened the rift. Cam voiced, “I didn’t think it would be a big deal because you make up with every n-gga that put hands on you.” “I see you with C-Gutta from Junior M.A.F.I.A. I see you taking pictures with Tru Life. Mendeecees, y’all having sit-downs. Gunshots were let off with that! Y’all having sit-downs to work it out. He added, “Every n-gga that do something to put pressure on you, you sit there and work it out. But when n-ggas got genuine heart for you and don’t put hands on you, then you can keep going on and on. That’s the pattern.”

Jim Jones Teases Diss Track to Cam’ron & Ma$e https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-teases-diss-track-to-camron-mae/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-teases-diss-track-to-camron-mae/#respond Tue, 14 Jan 2025 23:06:40 +0000 Jim Jones is seizing every chance to promote, previewing a track aimed at Cam’ron and Ma$e just hours after their Harlem-based broadcast, It Is What It Is, featured a deep dive into their thoughts on him. According to reports, on Tuesday (January 14), Jones shared a clip of the track on Instagram, seemingly addressing Cam’s comments from the previous day. During the segment, Cam ridiculed Jones for acknowledging that Ma$e had schooled him in the art of rapping. Cam’Ron also rebutted recent claims Jones made on Justin Laboy’s platform.

He stated, “We taught you how to rap, n-gga.” “How you ran the whole organization? How you made Diplomats? N-gga, you ain’t made none of this! You were a fan. I put you down ’cause you had a free crib and you were a nice guy.” Jones then uploaded a snippet of his musical retort, captioning the clip, “I said wht I said after they laugh at th lies th truth still hurts… Why would I waste free promo got me trending I’m tryin to drop.”

Furthermore, he shared that both his upcoming album and film, At the Church Steps, are set to release soon. The track starts, “N-ggas play with your name, then you remind them who you are.” He counters Cam’s accusation, questioning Jim’s ties to those implicated in the federal racketeering case with 6ix9ine.

Cam’Ron Blasts Freedom Betrayal, Jones Stands Strong on Loyalty

As the drama was gearing up, Cam’Ron revealed during his “It Is What It Is” segment, “Stop tricking n-ggas out they freedom.” “‘Cause n-ggas get around you to put theyselves in better situations, bro. Not to be in worse situations than they was before they met you… You send them on dummy missions and trick them out they freedom… Shotti [Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, 6ix9ine’s former manager who was sentenced to 15 years in prison], he was trying to be a [manager], twelve years [in prison]. And I know you love Mel [Jamel “Mel Murda”/”Mel Matrix” Jones, who was sentenced to 135 months]. I love Mel Matrix, that’s my brother… You said when he come home, he gonna be the triple O.G. Get that man a job, my n-gga.”

In apparent response, Jones names several individuals arrested in connection with the case. He voices, “All my n-ggas do they time, you know my team body.” “It’s been seven years since I’ve seen Shotti / It’s been seven years since I saw Melly And now he gotta fly straight ’cause he got four fellies.” The rapper continued, “So what more you want to ask him?” “Youn-ggas taught me how to rap, and now I’m platinum.”

Jim Jones Alleges Swizz Beatz and Cam’ron of ‘Backdooring’ Him in Dipset & The Lox Verzuz Deal https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-alleges-swizz-beatz-and-camron-of-backdooring-him-in-dipset-the-lox-verzuz-deal/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-alleges-swizz-beatz-and-camron-of-backdooring-him-in-dipset-the-lox-verzuz-deal/#respond Fri, 28 Feb 2025 16:26:36 +0000 Jim Jones has made accusations against Swizz Beatz and Cam’ron, accusing them of engaging in illicit activities related to Dipset’s Verzuz confrontation with The LOX. During an interview on Thursday (February 27), Jones asserted that Swizz, a Verzuz co-founder alongside Timbaland, orchestrated a covert agreement with Cam to broker the celebrated 2021 face-off. “Swizz, holla at me. You backdoored me, gave that man some business that you ain’t give all of us,” he stated, suggesting that he and Juelz Santana had been shut out of the deal. He continued, “I need triple what I had last time, the way we put that Verzuz on fire. We had that thing looking like a championship game […] You definitely got to give me triple, Swizz, and you got to give me some real business this time.”

Capo went on to suggest that under-the-table moves played a role in the group’s faceoff with The LOX, voicing, “That’s the funny thing about this game. Y’all don’t talk about the backdooring that’s going on for the Verzuz. We got the bag, but boys still went backdoor.” He later disclosed that he addressed his grievances directly with Swizz Beatz, who allegedly acknowledged his misstep, saying, “I did bad.” Additionally, Jones lashed out at Cam’ron, citing the alleged betrayal, stating, “He’ll say, ‘That’s me being a businessman.’ Nah, that’s you being a sucka doing backdoor shit. I stand on 10 toes and I break bread with my n-ggas […] I’m not one of them type of dudes.”

Jim Jones Challenges Cam’ron to $10 Million Boxing Match Amid Viral Feud

ones also took aim at the “Killa Cam” rapper’s performance during the face-off. “He mad ’cause he got booed and we lost. Let’s tell the truth. He got booed at the end! He forgot his freestyle,” he said. Swizz Beatz and Cam’ron have remained silent on the allegations. After the interview aired, Swizz showed support for Jones’ At the Church Steps album on social media.

During the exchange, Jim Jones threw down the gauntlet, daring Cam to step into the ring and settle their reignited feud with a boxing match. “He’s a birdhead. He don’t want no smoke. I’ll box his head off. Where’s the ring at?” he declared. “You getting money, right? $10 million right now. Today, n-gga. I’ll catch a flight wherever you at. You with Mayweather and ’em. $10 million. I’ll meet you in any boxing ring.” He continued, “Now go make some jokes about that on your next show. I’ll box your head off. You know that. Don’t play with me. Now go type about that.”

Jones’ brief tirade came after Cam’ron’s recent assertion that he played a role in landing artists behind bars rather than elevating their careers. Killa Cam’s recent marks went viral after he made the claims on his It Is What It Is podcast. “Stop tricking n-ggas out of their freedom, bro. ‘Cause n-ggas get around you to put theirselves in better situations, not to be in worst situations than before they met you. You send them on dummy missions and trick them out of their freedom,” he stated.

Cam’ron Leaves New York Over “Disgusting” Rat Problem https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-leaves-new-york-over-disgusting-rat-problem/ Tue, 11 Jun 2024 17:57:30 +0000 Cam’ron has had enough of New York City’s infamous rat problem. The rapper, who grew up in the city, recently left after just a few hours due to the overwhelming number of vermin. In a social media video, he expressed his frustration, saying he’s “too old” to deal with an issue that has plagued the city for decades.

“I just left New York. That sht was disgusting,” he said while recording himself on a boat. “Out there for two and a half hours and I booked a flight. I can’t do this sht. I love this city. I’m coming back in the summer for about a week or two. I put my time in with them rats and roaches. They still haven’t fixed the rat problem. Still! I can’t do rats no more. I’m too old for rats. What I look like getting out my car with my feet jumping around, doing all this sht when I get out the car ’cause a rat is there. I’m sick of that sht. I’m not apologizing for it neither. I ain’t even gonna act like I’m sorry for it a little bit.”

Despite his deep-rooted love for New York, as evidenced by songs like “Welcome to New York City” and “Harlem Streets,” Cam’ron, who now lives in Las Vegas, is no longer a fan of the city’s vermin and sanitation issues. His recent departure from the city underscores his frustration.

Fans supported his decision, with one commenting, “I love NYC, but the n-gga ain’t wrong. And Cam feels this way as an actual New Yorker lmao.” Another fan noted, “I don’t blame him. Especially when you grew up around it and saw it all your life.” A third criticized the city for its failure to address the problem despite its wealth, saying, “I agree all this money the city making and still can’t find a solution to the problem.”

Recently, Cam’ron also went viral for his appearance on CNN to discuss Diddy’s legal drama. The interview took an unexpected turn when he started drinking his Pink Horse Power sexual stimulant, leading to an abrupt end to the segment. This incident has likely decreased the chances of Cam’ron appearing on CNN again anytime soon.

Cam’ron Refutes Jim Jones’ Verzuz ‘Backdoor’ Claim in Leaked Texts https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-refutes-jim-jones-verzuz-backdoor-claim-in-leaked-texts/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-refutes-jim-jones-verzuz-backdoor-claim-in-leaked-texts/#respond Mon, 03 Mar 2025 18:53:05 +0000 Cam’ron has rebuffed Jim Jones‘ claim that he “backdoored” him in talks for Dipset’s Verzuz matchup against The LOX. The Harlem rapper denied the allegation on Instagram on Sunday (March 2), sharing what he said was a text exchange between them ahead of the much-hyped battle. In the message thread, Jones told Cam he had no interest in compensation for the Verzuz at Madison Square Garden, calling the event a “bucket list” milestone he expected would spark new business prospects.

Jones then expressed he’d even forfeit his share of the earnings to Cam’ron just to bring the showdown to life. “Really I just wanna touch [that] stage in a big way and if I have to take a loss to make a gain I’m willin to,” he stated. Cam then fired back, saying, “It’s not about the money for me bro. It’s about n-ggas keep getting more paper [off] us [than] we get [off] us. (Supreme etc).” “Swizz and [them] ain’t pay nobody then sold the company for 40/50m’s,” he continued, nodding to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s 2021 sale of Verzuz to Triller — a partnership that has since splintered relations. “[I’m] tryna get back for what they did to the cold crush lol.”

Cam’ron and Jim Jones Trade Jabs as Dipset Rift Deepens

Cam’ron responded to Jim Jones through an IG caption, writing, “I don’t pay half the shit n-ggas say no mind. But you know I keep the files. You wanted to do versus for free n-gga. So if you made a dollar be happy.” He added, “Talking bout it was on ya bucket list [face with rolling eyes emoji].. stop tryna re-write history. Now u got alost in the garden and the Barclays [laughing face emojis].” “And ya n-ggas ain’t eating unless they came with they own bread. The boy @sugadugga_ent got more money than you. And let’s bet 10M’s on that. Go get handsome a car a crib in jersey something [facepalm emoji] I’m done..FO NOW.”

Capo voiced his frustrations with Cam’s handling of Dipset’s Verzuz battle during a recent interview last week. “Swizz, holla at me. You backdoored me, gave that man some business that you ain’t give all of us,” he stated, suggesting that he and Juelz Santana were cut out of a deal. He continued, “I need triple what I had last time, the way we put that Verzuz on fire. We had that thing looking like a championship game […] You definitely got to give me triple, Swizz, and you got to give me some real business this time.”

The Harlem rapper said he later approached Swizz Beatz about their dispute, alleging that the Ruff Ryders producer acknowledged his misstep and responded: “I did bad.” Jones also fired back at Cam’ron, addressing what he called a “betrayal”, voicing: “He’ll say, ‘That’s me being a businessman.’ Nah, that’s you being a sucka doing backdoor shit. I stand on 10 toes and I break bread with my n-ggas […] I’m not one of them type of dudes.” At another point in the conversation, Capo issued a $10 million boxing challenge, pledging to “box his head off” as their simmering feud continues to escalate.

Cam’ron Expresses Heartfelt Grief Over Young Scooter’s Passing https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-expresses-heartfelt-grief-over-young-scooters-passing/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-expresses-heartfelt-grief-over-young-scooters-passing/#respond Thu, 03 Apr 2025 15:30:27 +0000 In a poignant reflection on loss, Cam’ron has openly shared his sorrow following the tragic death of his close friend, Young Scooter, who passed away over the weekend. During the latest episode of his popular sports talk show, It Is What It Is, Cam’ron took a moment to honor Scooter, revealing the profound impact the news had on him.

“Rest in peace to my brother Young Scooter,” Cam’ron expressed, his voice heavy with emotion. “That’s my guy, man. I was in tears over this last weekend. I truly loved that man.” His heartfelt tribute underscored the depth of their friendship and the sense of loss felt within the community.

The circumstances surrounding Young Scooter’s death have been clarified through an autopsy report, which confirmed that the rapper, whose real name was Kenneth Bailey, succumbed to a severe leg injury sustained while attempting to evade police by jumping a fence. The report detailed that the injury, which resulted in significant blood loss, was not due to a gunshot wound, dispelling rumors that had circulated online suggesting otherwise.

Reality Star’s Hoax Call Sparks Tragedy as Hip-Hop Mourns Young Scooter

The police were responding to a 911 call that has since been identified as a hoax, leading to the arrest of the caller. Demetria Spence, known in the reality TV sphere as Demi Blanco, was taken into custody by Atlanta authorities on April 1 and charged with creating a false public alarm that resulted in serious harm or fatality. During a live session on Instagram, Spence admitted to fabricating the call, asserting that she was the victim of assault, contrary to her earlier claims regarding a woman in distress at Scooter’s residence.

The motivations behind Spence’s deceptive call remain unclear, as does the reason for Scooter’s flight from the scene. As news of his passing reverberated throughout the music industry, an outpouring of tributes from fellow artists highlighted Young Scooter’s legacy as a stalwart of the Atlanta rap scene. He was well regarded for his collaborations with prominent figures, including Future, Young Thug, and Gucci Mane.

Playboi Carti took to Instagram to share a touching tribute, posting a picture of Scooter with the caption, “I GREW UP ON DIS SHIT SMH RIP.” Similarly, Quavo expressed his disbelief on social media, posting a series of heartbreak emojis alongside the words, “Ion understand.” Meek Mill, who collaborated with Scooter on the track “Hustlin” in 2017, shared his condolences on Twitter, stating, “RIP TO SCOOTER……. CRAZY TEARS FOR YOU!!!!!!!” The grief was palpable as other artists, including Boosie Badazz, Lloyd Banks, and Sonny Digital, also took to social media to mourn the loss of their friend and colleague.

Cam’ron Reflects on Missed Opportunities with Eminem and Nas https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-reflects-on-missed-opportunities-with-eminem-and-nas/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-reflects-on-missed-opportunities-with-eminem-and-nas/#respond Wed, 05 Mar 2025 19:17:35 +0000 Cam’ron recently expressed regret over missed opportunities to collaborate with Eminem and Nas, two artists he’s long admired.

During a conversation on his YouTube series Talk With Flee, the Harlem rapper confessed that these collaborations were ones he wished had come to fruition in his career. “There was a time, probably when we first came out in the late ’90s, ‘early 00s, I wanted to work with Eminem when his career was taking off and my career with Dipset was taking off,” he replied. “I wanted to do a record with Eminem because he’s super-duper lyrical. I can be super-duper lyrical. I dumb a lot of my shit down for my audience but I thought that would have been a sensational record.” He continued, “The other person would be Nas. That would be the other artist I would have loved to work with at one time.”

Cam’ron and Eminem Bring Comedy to Happy Gilmore 2

Despite not yet collaborating in the studio, Cam’ron and Eminem are both said to be making appearances in Happy Gilmore 2.

In a recent Instagram update touting Talk With Flee, the rapper shared a photo with his team and captioned it, “Put the whole team in da movie. #HappyGilmore2.” In November 2024, it was revealed that Eminem made his way to New Jersey to film additional scenes for the movie. “Em is a big fan of the original movie, and he was a total pleasure to work with. He was just super low key, he didn’t have a big entourage, and was just an absolute delight on set,” an unnamed insider told The U.S. Sun.

The insider went on to note that the Detroit legend possessed “strong comedic skills.” In a past Instagram video, Cam offered high praise for Eminem, reflecting on his admiration for the rap icon. “Is Eminem one of the best rappers? Yes, Eminem is one of the best rappers,” he stated. “Look, what happens is, a lot of people say Eminem don’t be saying nothing and just puts words together or whatever. But you gotta realize, you gotta do what works for you. If that works for Eminem, for him to make all the money he made and the Grammys and awards, he’s so rich that he can’t come outside by himself, then that just works for Eminem.”

Chad Ochocinco Fires Back At Cam’ron: ‘If You Don’t Like Me… I’m Easy To Find’ https://www.hot97.com/news/chad-ochocinco-fires-back-at-camron-if-you-dont-like-me-im-easy-to-find/ https://www.hot97.com/news/chad-ochocinco-fires-back-at-camron-if-you-dont-like-me-im-easy-to-find/#respond Thu, 27 Feb 2025 21:00:00 +0000 Chad Ochocinco is firing back at Cam’ron.

On the latest episode of Nightcap, along with his co-host Shannon Sharpe, Ochocinco took some time to address the allegations that were levied at him by the Harlem rapper.

“I said, ‘Cam, you’re my mans and I’m coming for your spot,” Ocho explained. “ I’m not sure how that’s taken as hate when all you have to do is understand that I’m saying I’m coming for your spot because I see you as the standard that is setting the bar in that specific space.”

“You took that as an insult which is weird to me,” Ocho continued. “I’m not sure how you can do that. If you check the numbers, what I said I would do, I’ve already done and surpassed that in this specific space.”

The Cincinnati Bengals great also noted that he wouldn’t be a guest on It Is What It Is because he’s a headliner.

“He talks about money and bags and how much you pay a guest feature. How much do we pay for our guest features?  Buddy, I ain’t no guest feature. I’m the main attraction. What you talking about? I’ve always been the main attraction,” Ocho stated. “There’s a difference. In your lane, you do what you do. I’m in completely different lanes and completely different rooms from you, despite me always playing around and joking. It’s different.”

On Wednesday (February 26), Cam’ron took aim at Ochocinco claiming he doesn’t get down with him.

“I don’t really f*ck with Chad Ochocinco to be totally honest with you. He alright, but at the end of the day when we started this show, the n***a was hating from the very beginning,” Cam’ron said. “He comes outta nowhere talking about, ‘Yeah, I’ma get myself back together and I’m taking Cam’s spot.’ Why the f*ck you gotta take my spot n***a?”

Cam also said that he reached out to Ochocinco to bring him on the show, but he was told to contact his representative.

“You so dumb you can’t even speak for yourself, stupid motherf*cker,” Cam’ron said.
