Lil Durk’s recent legal battles have drawn support from his family, including a heartfelt message from his son, Zayden Banks. Durk’s first court appearance took place in Miami, where his father showed up by his side, walking with Durk’s attorney, Alex Ubieta. Durk is scheduled for his next hearing in the Central District of California.

Durk’s son Zayden released a public statement on Instagram defending his father, saying, “I want to take a moment to stand up for my dad, Durk Banks. He has always dedicated his life to uplifting others and giving back to our community through his nonprofit organization, Neighborhood Heroes. Beyond that, he is a great father who has always supported and loved our family unconditionally.”

The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Broward County, Florida, without bond. Reports allege that Durk’s charges are connected to a murder-for-hire scheme targeting Georgia rapper Quando Rondo. This scheme stems from a 2020 altercation involving King Von. In a 2022 shooting, Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, was killed. This crime is now associated with Durk’s case in support of the ongoing investigation.

Five alleged associates of Durk are members of his collective, Only the Family (OTF). They have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire. They also face charges for using a machine gun in a violent crime. If convicted, these charges could result in the death penalty. Federal authorities claim that OTF credit cards were used to fund their travel and rental vehicles in support of the attack.

The arrest coincides with a civil lawsuit filed by The Dinizulu Law Group. The suit aims to hold Durk and OTF accountable for the 2020 shooting of rapper FBG Duck.
