During the latest episode of It Is What It Is, he revealed that his wife could hear the conversation, saying, “When she’s gone, I’ll be talking again.”

Cam’ron noted that Mase’s behavior is evidence that Pierce was on to something with his results.

“So basically, what’s going on is, Mase’s wife is my sister, [Maurice Clarett] Mo’s wife is my sister, ’cause I love my brothers’ wives, everything, but this what Paul Pierce was talking about. Look at them n*ggs,” Cam laughed.

“Don’t be tough for me, Murda,” Cam continued. “Keep it–don’t be tough for me. Don’t do it for me. You better calm the fuck down, and don’t be tough for me.”

After the laughter from Cam and Treasure Wilson aka “Stat Baby” died down, Mase offered some careful words, still aware that his wife could be listening his every single word.

“When it comes to women, I think women kinda act the way a man allows them to act, if I can say that? Yeah, that’s exactly what I believe,” he said. “I believe there’s some women that’ll act the way you need ’em to act. And, if you get them, it’s the terms that you get ’em on, right?

“Maybe Paul just chose the wrong Black women,” Maurice Clarett added. “Or maybe his approach with women is a little bit different. I don’t know how he handle women, or how he lets women handle him.”

In a recent episode of his podcast “The Truth After Dark With Paul and Azar,” Piece explained why white women are often chosen by Black men in the NBA.

“I honestly think that maybe they appreciate maybe more, and they apologize more,” Pierce laughed. “They don’t mind being held accountable!”

Ma$e and Cam’ron Rank Their Top 3 White Rappers Amid Debate https://www.hot97.com/news/mae-and-camron-rank-their-top-3-white-rappers-amid-debate/ https://www.hot97.com/news/mae-and-camron-rank-their-top-3-white-rappers-amid-debate/#respond Wed, 16 Apr 2025 16:51:28 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=150506 During a spirited exchange on their sports talk show It Is What It Is, Cam’ron and Ma$e weighed in on the evolving place of white artists in hip-hop, offering up their personal picks for the top three white MCs—a response to the broader debate over who deserves a spot on rap’s Mount Rushmore.

When co-host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson prompted them to name their top picks, Ma$e began with an acknowledgment of Eminem, stating, “First and foremost, you have to mention the guy from Philly signed to Jadakiss [Millyz]. Eminem is a given. Then there’s MGK or Yelawolf. Who do you think stands out more, Killa?”

Cam’ron responded thoughtfully, “I’m leaning towards MGK since he’s my guy. No offense to Yelawolf; I just haven’t explored much of his music.” In a candid moment, Ma$e also noted the Beastie Boys as deserving of recognition but felt the need to revise his selections after realizing he had overlooked one significant artist. “Wait, I forgot Jack Harlow! I need to update my list. He’s definitely in the conversation,” he remarked.

Cam’ron elaborated further, saying, “Eminem is undoubtedly my number one. You also have to consider individuals who broke down barriers for white rappers during a time when acceptance in the hip-hop community was scarce.” He expressed admiration for 3rd Bass, stating, “They didn’t have the lyrical prowess of Eminem, but they earned respect during an era when it was challenging for white artists to gain traction in predominantly Black spaces. Remember how Vanilla Ice was received?”

Cam’ron Ranks Top White Rappers, Reflects on Eminem, and Addresses MGK Snub

The iconic Dipset member continued, acknowledging the late Mac Miller as his third choice. “Rest in peace to him. Jack Harlow deserves recognition too, but I wouldn’t place him above the three I mentioned. He’s definitely in the top four, though, and he’s extremely talented.” Cam’ron candidly revealed his personal taste, admitting, “To be honest, I was never a huge Beastie Boys fan. They seemed to lean more towards rock than rap for me.”

Interestingly, while both Cam’ron and Ma$e endorsed Machine Gun Kelly, MGK was notably absent from a viral social media post showcasing an AI-generated Mount Rushmore of white rappers, which featured Eminem, Mac Miller, Paul Wall, and Russ. MGK expressed his disappointment on X, saying, “Me not being included on the white rapper Mount Rushmore is blasphemy.” Meanwhile, the conversation surrounding the Mount Rushmore continues to trend on social media as fans weigh in with their opinions.

In a reflective moment, Cam’ron also shared his regret about not collaborating with Eminem during the peak of their respective careers. On his YouTube show Talk with Flee, he expressed, “Back in the late ’90s and early 2000s, I really wanted to work with Eminem when both of our careers were on the rise. He’s incredibly lyrical, and I can be too. I’ve toned down my lyrics for my audience, but I always thought that collaboration would have been something special.” He also mentioned Nas as another artist he wished to have worked with at that time.

Cam’ron Calls Out Kanye’s Antics https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-calls-out-kanyes-antics/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-calls-out-kanyes-antics/#respond Fri, 11 Apr 2025 17:23:30 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=150207 Cam’ron isn’t holding back when it comes to Kanye West’s latest round of chaos. The Harlem rapper addressed Ye’s recent behavior on his Talk With Flee show, offering his unfiltered thoughts on everything from Kanye’s social media rants to his beefs with other artists.

“He’s always had wild quotables,” Cam said. “From the time he said, ‘George Bush doesn’t like Black people’—that just happened to be on CNN. It looked bold instead of bizarre. But he’s been on this type of time for years.”

Cam’ron called out Kanye’s recent remarks about JAY-Z and his children, making it clear that there are lines you don’t cross. “I was disgusted. Why are you mentioning another man’s kids? That’s not only out of bounds, it’s desperate.” He also pointed out the contradiction between Kanye’s wealth and his emotional state, saying, “He talks about having all this money, but he doesn’t look like someone who’s at peace.”

As for Kanye’s choice to wear a Black Ku Kl*x Klan-style outfit, Cam wasn’t shocked. To him, it’s just another stunt in a long list of outrageous moments. But what really rubbed Cam the wrong way was Kanye downplaying Kendrick Lamar’s status in hip hop. “You’re saying Kendrick’s not number one, but where’s your work? You don’t just claim greatness—you prove it.”

Cam’ron also reflected on an earlier run-in with Kanye and questioned the authenticity of his so-called erratic behavior. “Kanye, he play crazy with who he wanna play crazy with,” he said on All the Smoke. “That n-gga’s crazy when it’s convenient.”

Ultimately, Cam said he’s never seen the version of Kanye that makes headlines and that’s exactly why he’s skeptical.

Cam’ron Expresses Heartfelt Grief Over Young Scooter’s Passing https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-expresses-heartfelt-grief-over-young-scooters-passing/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-expresses-heartfelt-grief-over-young-scooters-passing/#respond Thu, 03 Apr 2025 15:30:27 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=149755 In a poignant reflection on loss, Cam’ron has openly shared his sorrow following the tragic death of his close friend, Young Scooter, who passed away over the weekend. During the latest episode of his popular sports talk show, It Is What It Is, Cam’ron took a moment to honor Scooter, revealing the profound impact the news had on him.

“Rest in peace to my brother Young Scooter,” Cam’ron expressed, his voice heavy with emotion. “That’s my guy, man. I was in tears over this last weekend. I truly loved that man.” His heartfelt tribute underscored the depth of their friendship and the sense of loss felt within the community.

The circumstances surrounding Young Scooter’s death have been clarified through an autopsy report, which confirmed that the rapper, whose real name was Kenneth Bailey, succumbed to a severe leg injury sustained while attempting to evade police by jumping a fence. The report detailed that the injury, which resulted in significant blood loss, was not due to a gunshot wound, dispelling rumors that had circulated online suggesting otherwise.

Reality Star’s Hoax Call Sparks Tragedy as Hip-Hop Mourns Young Scooter

The police were responding to a 911 call that has since been identified as a hoax, leading to the arrest of the caller. Demetria Spence, known in the reality TV sphere as Demi Blanco, was taken into custody by Atlanta authorities on April 1 and charged with creating a false public alarm that resulted in serious harm or fatality. During a live session on Instagram, Spence admitted to fabricating the call, asserting that she was the victim of assault, contrary to her earlier claims regarding a woman in distress at Scooter’s residence.

The motivations behind Spence’s deceptive call remain unclear, as does the reason for Scooter’s flight from the scene. As news of his passing reverberated throughout the music industry, an outpouring of tributes from fellow artists highlighted Young Scooter’s legacy as a stalwart of the Atlanta rap scene. He was well regarded for his collaborations with prominent figures, including Future, Young Thug, and Gucci Mane.

Playboi Carti took to Instagram to share a touching tribute, posting a picture of Scooter with the caption, “I GREW UP ON DIS SHIT SMH RIP.” Similarly, Quavo expressed his disbelief on social media, posting a series of heartbreak emojis alongside the words, “Ion understand.” Meek Mill, who collaborated with Scooter on the track “Hustlin” in 2017, shared his condolences on Twitter, stating, “RIP TO SCOOTER……. CRAZY TEARS FOR YOU!!!!!!!” The grief was palpable as other artists, including Boosie Badazz, Lloyd Banks, and Sonny Digital, also took to social media to mourn the loss of their friend and colleague.

Cam’ron Says Suge Knight Confronted Him Over A Tupac Shakur Sample https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-says-suge-knight-confronted-him-over-a-tupac-shakur-sample/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-says-suge-knight-confronted-him-over-a-tupac-shakur-sample/#respond Wed, 19 Mar 2025 22:43:02 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148999 Cam’ron revealed that Suge Knight tried to exhort him over a Tupac Shakur sample he used on his third album, Come Home With Me.

On the latest episode of Talk With Flee, Cam shared that Suge confronted him about sampling Tupac’s classic track “Ambitionz Az a Ridah” for his own song “Live My Life (Leave Me Alone).” Cam also noted that the interaction was not as serious as it may have looked.

“To me, the Suge Knight conversation wasn’t a tough situation; it was more of a conversation that got a little aggressive, and then it wasn’t aggressive,” Cam said. “We were outside the Sentry Club in L.A. if I’m not mistaken…[Suge] came over to us with probably about five, six, seven people, and he was like, ‘Yo, you owe me money.’”

“I was like, ‘Owe you money? For what?’ He was like, ‘You used one of my beats.’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know what beat you’re talking about.’ He was talking about 2Pac’s beat. Daz [Dillinger] had actually done the beat, and Daz played it over for me in the studio. [Suge] was like, ‘Ambitionz Az a Ridah,’ the 2Pac record.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, Daz came and played that over for me,” Cam continued. “I don’t owe you anything.’ He started laughing and said, ‘Daz can’t control shit, Daz don’t own nothing. I own it.'”

After he saw Cam was standing on business, Knight eventually retreated and told the “Oh Boy” rapper that everything was cool between them.

“You know what? Don’t even worry about it, little homie,” Cam recalled. “We good, it’s all good.”

On his 2019 track “Fast Lane,” Cam previously told his version of the story. The Harlem rapper said that he had to call on his friend Tito to pull out a knife for reinforcements during the altercation.

Cam rapped, “Walked up out of [the club], got approached by Suge Knight / He said I owed him money, started screwin’ / I said, ‘No, I don’t, homie, now tell me what we doin’?’ / He said, ‘How you figure?’ I said, ‘I said so’ / Tito flicked his knife, he was ready to go to death row / I’m talkin’ kamikaze, but we resolved it calmly / Everything I say is truth, I put that on my mommy.”

Ma$e Is Open To Visiting Diddy In Jail https://www.hot97.com/news/mae-is-open-to-visiting-diddy-in-jail/ https://www.hot97.com/news/mae-is-open-to-visiting-diddy-in-jail/#respond Mon, 17 Mar 2025 20:38:35 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148841 After all that he’s been through with his former label boss, Ma$e would still visit Diddy in jail.

During the latest episode of his It Is What It Is podcast, Ma$e mentioned that he attended Voletta Wallace’s funeral to his co-host Cam’ron and that the memorial felt like “the end of an era.” He also shared that he was too emotional to speak to some in attendance at the service. Cam then asked Ma$e if he felt uncomfortable sitting next to Diddy’s son.

“I wasn’t there. I was just wondering,” Cam joked. “I heard they put ya’ll by each other and the vibe wasn’t right.”

While not confirming his seating arrangement, Ma$e expressed that he would visit the disgraced Bad Boy Records founder behind bars.

I mean, if my name was on the list, I’d go visit Puff, you know?” Ma$e confirmed. “I would visit him, make sure that he’s good.”

“Why you ain’t do it when he was out?” Cam responded.

“These are the times you need people to check up and make sure you good. And not that I condone anything that they’re alleged to have done, just until they prove it, you kind of want to make sure that you don’t be like one of those people that, somebody did good for you…he didn’t do all bad, he did some good,” Ma$e answered.

I’m not talking about the tape stuff and all that, I’m talking about just the musical side, giving me an opportunity,” Ma$e clarified. “I think, as a person of class, you definitely got to show up and sit somewhere in the court, if they let you.”

Signing to the label in 1996, Ma$e released his classic debut album Harlem World, in 1997, followed by 1999’s Double Up. Following his tenure as a pastor of Saving a Nation Endangered Church he returned to the label to drop Welcome Back in 2024.

Tensions grew between the Ma$e and Diddy after he accused him of holding his publishing rights to all of his music.

Eventually,  DIddy gave Ma$e back his publishing in 2023.

Cam’ron Shuts Down Mariah Carey Romance Rumors https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-shuts-down-mariah-carey-romance-rumors/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-shuts-down-mariah-carey-romance-rumors/#respond Fri, 14 Mar 2025 22:51:02 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148745 Cam’ron is putting an end to long-standing rumors about his relationship and possible romance with Mariah Carey. Despite past speculation linking the two, especially after he posted throwback photos with her in 2023 captioned, “I’m the friend you shouldn’t worry about,” the Dipset icon insists they were never romantically involved.

On the latest episode of his YouTube show Talk With Flee, Cam clarified their bond. “She’s a friend. She’s a good friend. It’s nothing less or nothing more than that. She’s a super-duper good friend,” he stated. “We were never together. We were never a couple, nothing like that.”

Recalling how they met, he explained that Carey was a fan of his music, leading to their collaboration on “Boy (I Need You).” While rumors of romance have followed them for years, Cam’ron emphasized that their bond was purely platonic. Their friendship grew from there, with Carey introducing him to Aspen’s festive scene. “Honestly, Mariah’s the first person who made me realize that it was festive in Aspen about 20-something years ago,” he said. He also shared how she took him on luxurious trips. “I drunk some wine, she had a pool house, we chilled out there. She took me to Capri, to Italy. She took me to a lot of different places. Thank you for helping me experience some things at a young age that I do for fun now.”

Cam revealed that Carey owns multiple Dipset chains but dismissed any notion that they were gifted in exchange for intimacy. He also praised her contributions to hip-hop. “People don’t give Mariah Carey a lot of credit for putting Hip Hop in her music and videos,” he said, listing collaborations with Da Brat, The LOX, Ma$e, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and himself.

Meanwhile, Carey recently sparked dating rumors with Anderson .Paak after the two were spotted holding hands in Aspen over the holidays.

Jim Jones Shuts Down Dipset Reunion With Cam’ron https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-shuts-down-dipset-reunion-with-camron/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-shuts-down-dipset-reunion-with-camron/#respond Thu, 13 Mar 2025 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148683 Jim Jones isn’t holding out hope for a reunion with his longtime Dipset partner, Cam’ron. During an interview with Ebro Darden on Rap Life Radio for Apple Music, Jones addressed their rocky relationship, which has played out online in recent weeks.

“I don’t want people to think I’m going back and forth, I’m just telling my truth,” Jones explained. “In terms of me telling my truth, people feel they need to have a rebuttal… let them do it.” He made it clear that he doesn’t see this as a battle, despite the ongoing public exchanges.

When asked if there was still a brotherhood between them, Jones shut down the idea. “Nah, it’s definitely no brotherhood. The brotherhood been over damn near since [The Diplomats]. That was where the brotherhood was at.” As for whether they could make amends, he didn’t seem optimistic. “Not right now. Not something I could foresee, but who knows,” he said. “Right now it’s about me. I ain’t got time to focus on nothing else and no one else.”

Their latest fallout began when Cam’ron invited 50 Cent on his show, Talk With Flee, and the two discussed Jones. Jones later fired back in a conversation with Justin Laboy, saying, “Them n***as ain’t got nothing else to think about but Capo. I did a lot for them n***as in their life, ya heard?”

Cam then took shots at Jones on It Is What It Is, questioning his Harlem roots, his role in Dipset’s success, and the possibility of a reunion. In response, Jones dropped a diss track aimed at Cam, adding more fuel to their already heated feud.

Ma$e Announces Album Release Set For Start of Diddy’s Trial https://www.hot97.com/news/mae-announces-album-release-set-for-start-of-diddys-trial/ https://www.hot97.com/news/mae-announces-album-release-set-for-start-of-diddys-trial/#respond Mon, 10 Mar 2025 15:26:53 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148385 Ma$e has made a striking revelation—his first album in more than two decades is set to arrive the same day Diddy’s sex trafficking trial begins.

Seated with headphones on, the Harlem rapper slipped the announcement into conversation on It Is What It Is. “I’m listening to the songs that [Cam’ron] picked out of the stuff I made … It’s gonna be crazy. We had to pick the right records. I let him pick the right records,” he said. When guest co-host Maurice Clarett pressed him on the timing of his next album, Ma$e offered a knowing smirk before responding, “May 25th. The first day of the Diddy trial. We’re dropping. You like that? You made me put it out there.” Murda later disclosed that the release would span three discs, adding, “Now we even.”

Diddy’s trial is set for May 5, but whether Ma$e will align his album release with the proceedings remains uncertain.

Timing his musical comeback to coincide with Diddy’s trial wouldn’t be Ma$e’s first dig at his former mentor’s mounting legal troubles. After federal agents raided Puff’s homes last year—an operation that ultimately led to his indictment on sex trafficking and racketeering charges—the rapper seemed to relish the fallout. “Reparations is getting closer and closer!” he quipped on It Is What It Is, shortly after the police search.

As co-host Cam’ron highlighted the raids aligning with the 27th anniversary of Biggie’s Life After Death, Ma$e responded, “It’s amazing that all of this would transpire on that day. That’s eerie, man! That’s crazy.” In a subsequent segment, Ma$e shared his reasons for staying largely mum on Diddy’s legal battles, teasing potential revelations about his former collaborator in upcoming documentaries. “I’m saving my takes for the documentary,” he remarked. “If y’all wondering how I feel, it’s coming soon — pause.”

Cam’ron Addresses Allegations That He Stole ‘Horse & Carriage’ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-addresses-allegations-that-he-stole-horse-carriage/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-addresses-allegations-that-he-stole-horse-carriage/#respond Thu, 06 Mar 2025 21:38:15 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148131 Cam’ron is responding to the allegations that he and Mas$e stole “Horse & Carriage” from Cuban Link.

During an episode of The Link and Panda Show, the former Terror Squad member claimed that he interpolated the song from a comedy routine by Eddie Murphy and Ma$e overheard his idea.

The remaking of the chorus, which originates from Desi Arnaz & His Orchestra 1948 song “Cuban Cabby”, was supposed to be Cuban Link’s debut single. He even got assistance from the late great Big Pun.

“That was supposed to be my single […] The next thing I see is f**king ‘Horse & Carriage’ with Ma$e, Cam and f**king Pun,” Cuban Link said.

On the latest episode of Talk With Flee, Cam said that he and Ma$e did not steal the ong but Cuban Link “may have a case.”

“I have no idea what Cuban Link is talking about as far as Ma$e overhearing his hook and Ma$e stealing the hook,” Cam said in response. “This is what I will tell Cuban Link, though: if you sang your hook in front of Lance ‘Un’ Rivera, then you may have a case ’cause Un came up with that hook.

“‘Un’ Rivera is the one who came up saying he wanted to sing the Ricky Ricardo hook. If you ever sang that hook in front of Lance ‘Un’ Rivera, you may have an argument,” Cam continued. “But Ma$e didn’t come up with that hook.”

Released in 1998 off of Cam’ron’s debut album Confessions of Fire, “Horse & Carriage” was produced by the Trackmasters and featured Ma$e on the hook. Peaking at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song became Cam’s first major hit.

The “Horse & Carriage” remix was released the same year and featured Charli Baltimore, Silkk the Shocker, Wyclef Jean, and ironically Big Pun.
