During an interview on the No Funny Shit Show, the legendary member of the LOX, at around the co-host Kenny Supreme suggested that Jones might have a better “20 pack” of songs.

While Styles acknowledged that  Supreme is “entitled” to his opinion because “hip-hop is about you connecting with music,” Styles said that he and Jones “ain’t in the same league.”

“The Ghost” then explained what differentiates him from Capo.

“Me and Jim don’t do the same thing. I’m a bar master. I’m a lyrical technician. I’ve been on joints with some of the best emcees in the world,” Styles said, naming The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Black Thought, and Talib Kweli..

“I bar sh*t down. When Rakim tells you you nice, KRS tells you you nice, Big tells you you nice, Hov tells you you nice … all these people tell you you nice, you’re f**king nice,” Styles said.

“I’m not here to make catchy hooks and do dope sh*t. I don’t knock that. I’m trying to say some sh*t that’s gonna make your soul move—that’s gonna be some shit you may catch 10 years later, down the line,” he added. “There’s not many people in my age group that have the amount of catalog I have.”

“[Jim] don’t got none of those kind of songs that make n***as cry,” Styles explained. “You better check my jacket. I made up a fucking lane. There was no artist emcee before. It was fly dudes, it was kings. I invented the lane where n***as saying they make hard shit. Me.”

In a now-deleted post on Instagram, Jones then challenged Styles to a Verzuz battle.

“Now go listen to [the] song ‘Bobby’ we did on Lobby Boy,” Jones said of the track from The Lobby Boyz album with Maino. “We recorded it at the same time in the studio together. Since we talkin’ bars let’s [just] do a versus [sic] ep something for [the] people to listen n judge.”

“I’m not scared of no competition on any level, I’m here to level [the] playin field. If we talkin bars let’s go,” Jones added.

This wouldn’t be the first time Styles and Jones were involved in a Verzuz. In 2021, The LOX soundly defeated the Diplomats.

Jim Jones Plans To Steal The Show With His All-Star Lineup At Summer Jam https://www.hot97.com/summer-jam-2025/jim-jones-plans-to-steal-the-show-with-his-all-star-lineup-at-hot-97s-summer-jam-2025/ https://www.hot97.com/summer-jam-2025/jim-jones-plans-to-steal-the-show-with-his-all-star-lineup-at-hot-97s-summer-jam-2025/#respond Thu, 08 May 2025 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=151665 Jim Jones’s legacy with HOT 97’s Summer Jam spans decades and illustrates his staying power in hip-hop’s ever-shifting landscape. His connection to the festival dates back to the early 2000s, when fate and readiness collided.

Jim Jones’s defining Hot 97 Summer Jam moment came in 2008, when he stormed the stage at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford. By then, he wasn’t just a Harlem rapper tied to the Diplomats—he had stepped into his own spotlight. “We Fly High” had exploded across airwaves, soundtracking clubs, and corners with its indelible “ballin’” chant. That summer, Jones’s presence at Summer Jam didn’t feel like a guest appearance—it felt like a coronation.

More than a decade later, the performance still echoes in the culture. It’s remembered not only for the music but for the emotion—the grit of a rapper who refused to fade. Jim Jones didn’t just perform that night. He etched himself into Summer Jam history, where legends are born in the spotlight and tested by the crowd.

Now, as Summer Jam 2025 approaches, Jones is preparing to return once again—this time under the banner of “Jim Jones and Friends.” He’s teased surprise guests, sparking rumors of another Dipset reunion. Fans know that when Jones touches that stage, it’s more than a performance—it’s a celebration of survival, of evolution, of hip-hop’s gritty heartbeat.

Jones hit the airwaves on April 3 to invite New York out to party with him — especially Harlem. His journey through Summer Jam mirrors his career: unpredictable, resilient, and forever rooted in the streets that shaped him.

While promoting the upcoming concert, Jim Jones sat down with the station to share that he will be bringing back that old feeling that makes Summer Jam legendary. “Shoutout to New York City, we all coming to tear Summer Jam down,” Capo tells Hot 97’s Nessa. “I dunno if you’ve been to Summer Jam when we used to do it, but we bringin’ that energy back in the building. I don’t know, I might bring that Summer Jam screen back — you heard.”

From Lil Wayne to Dave East to Migos, Jimmy has endless friends in hip-hop to call on to perform alongside him at this year’s annual concert. From the Lobby Boyz to Byrd Gang to Roc-A-Fella, he has many fractions to choose from to invite on stage to create countless hip-hop moments

Jim Jones’ Hot 97 Summer Jam History

Jim Jones made his Summer Jam debut with Cam’Ron and Dipset in the early 2000s. Jones and the Diplomats were in the parking lot when they were unexpectedly asked to replace Nas, whose absence left a last-minute opening.

Without hesitation, Dipset took the stage, transforming what could’ve been a brief cameo into a defining moment. That spontaneous debut introduced the Harlem crew to thousands and etched their names into Summer Jam folklore.

Since then, Jones has returned to the stage multiple times, evolving from a hungry newcomer to a seasoned performer. Whether rolling solo or flanked by Cam’ron and Juelz Santana, Jones consistently delivers sets laced with grit, nostalgia, and crowd-shaking surprises.

His 2008 performance at Giants Stadium remains a fan favorite, remembered for its raw energy and unexpected guest appearances. He doesn’t simply perform—he brings a piece of Harlem to the stage every time.

Summer Jam has long been a cultural checkpoint for hip-hop, and Jones respects its power. He views the stage as a rare space where legacy artists and emerging stars collide in real-time. For him, it’s not just about music; it’s about moments that shape public memory and solidify impact.

He talked about how much this moment means to him, what fans can expect—including surprise guests—and even what outfit he might wear. Jim reflected on his earliest Summer Jam memory, when he and the Diplomats were called out of the parking lot to fill in for Nas at their very first show. He spoke on how this year feels different, the energy he wants to bring, and how proud he is to still be standing after all these years.

He got emotional when talking about his resilience, the moment he was able to buy his mother a house, and how Chrissy has been his biggest source of clarity and honesty throughout everything. Jim opened up about his relationship with Cam’ron and where they stand now, sharing one thing Cam said that he’ll never forget. He also talked about how DJ Clark Kent was one of the first people to believe in him when others didn’t, and how that support kept him going.

When asked about his legacy, he said he wants to be remembered as someone who gave more than he took. Jim Jones Nearly Walks Into A Drug Deal During Livestream https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-nearly-walks-into-a-drug-deal-in-harlem/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-nearly-walks-into-a-drug-deal-in-harlem/#respond Mon, 31 Mar 2025 19:21:56 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=149590 Jim Jones nearly found himself in the middle of a street-level misunderstanding during a recent livestream with Kick star N3on. While showing N3on around Harlem, the rapper unknowingly led the streamer into what appeared to be an active drug deal inside a high-rise building. The moment quickly turned tense, but Jim recognized the situation immediately and moved swiftly to defuse it.

Realizing they had walked into something they shouldn’t have, Jim quickly directed N3on and their crew out of the area. Apologizing to the men inside, he assured them there was no ill intent before making a smooth exit. The clip quickly went viral, with fans reacting to how effortlessly the Dipset legend handled the situation.

Beyond the unexpected detour, the livestream had plenty of entertaining moments, including Jim Jones calling out N3on for the way his Timberland boots were laced. Stunned by the setup, Jim demanded to know who was responsible, clearly unimpressed with the sloppy job. Without hesitation, he crouched down and relaced them himself, making sure they were Harlem-approved. N3on, taking the correction in stride, promised it wouldn’t happen again.

The two also hit a local basketball court for a quick one-on-one game. Despite Jim’s confidence, N3on managed to hold his own, while wearing Timbs. The unexpected win had fans laughing, especially considering the rapper’s earlier footwear critique.

From near street trouble to fashion fixes and a friendly basketball matchup, Jim Jones and N3on’s Harlem adventure was full of surprises.

Cardi B & Jim Jones Respond To Ye’s Social Media Rant https://www.hot97.com/news/cardi-b-jim-jones-respond-to-yes-social-media-rant/ https://www.hot97.com/news/cardi-b-jim-jones-respond-to-yes-social-media-rant/#respond Wed, 19 Mar 2025 18:06:04 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148979 Ye, formerly Kanye West, social media tirade has sparked reactions from Playboi Carti, Jim Jones, and Cardi B.

On March 18, West launched into an explosive rant on X, much of which was later deleted. He directed his anger at frequent collaborator Playboi Carti, using a homophobic slur and accusing him of domestic violence.

“Iggy, I was sorry for speaking on your kid. That was some Carti behavior,” West wrote, referencing his recent clash with Iggy Azalea over their son, Onyx. He then doubled down on his accusations against Carti, claiming: “Carti beats women. He told me to stop tweeting about Nazis. Why do broke men always try to tell me what to do? Oh, I forgot—the industry allows songs about murder but tells Carti to give me advice.”

He crudely added: “Carti beats women. I beat women. But everyone hates Diddy.”

West also lashed out at Carti for wanting to collaborate with his daughter, North, and alleged that he was blocked from appearing on Carti’s latest album, Music. In response, Carti simply tweeted: “Ye, shut up.”

Jim Jones was also caught in West’s verbal firestorm, despite the two recently spending time together in Japan. “F*** Jim Jones,” West posted, before elaborating: “This might sound like a Tarantino movie, but here goes. Jim Jones got paid $2 million to introduce me to a man named Mr. Pink to discuss my crypto coin and never told me he was getting $2 million. He never cut me in. But that wasn’t even the worst part.”

West then ridiculed Jones over a separate issue involving a fashion collaboration.

“We were working on clothes, and I asked him for a PDF. This guy tells me he doesn’t know how to make a PDF. Get one of your young guys to do it, Capo. I actually love Jim Jones, and I’ll never go full Ye on him, but I want that PDF more than the money.”

Jones refused to escalate the feud, responding simply: “I love Kanye.”

West then turned his attention to hip-hop’s leading women, making controversial claims about their careers. “Cardi B replaced Nicki Minaj. Meg Thee Stallion replaced Cardi B. Doja Cat replaced Meg Thee Stallion. Doechii replaced Doja Cat after Doja started with the Nazi talk. Funny how similar Doja and Doechii’s names are.”

He continued, taking aim at Lizzo: “They had Lizzo promoting Black obesity. I’m really proud of Lizzo—she’s an amazing talent and has taken her life into her own hands.”

West then dismissed Cardi B altogether, questioning her longevity. “Where is Cardi B gonna be in 10 years? They used her.”

Cardi didn’t respond directly but posted defiantly: “Seven years, one album… STILL being a topic and STILL being asked about my music! I’m anointed, and I have a real fanbase. They come and go, but The Brim is still here and will stay!”

Meanwhile, 50 Cent, one of the few people West praised in his tirade, reacted with concern. Sharing West’s post, he wrote on Instagram:

“Damn it, Ye, you’re dangerous right now. What you say about the kids, man?” referring to West’s shocking comments about JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s twins, Rumi and Sir.

West’s latest meltdown only adds to his growing list of erratic public outbursts, leaving fans and peers wondering what he’ll do next.

Jim Jones Shuts Down Dipset Reunion With Cam’ron https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-shuts-down-dipset-reunion-with-camron/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-shuts-down-dipset-reunion-with-camron/#respond Thu, 13 Mar 2025 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148683 Jim Jones isn’t holding out hope for a reunion with his longtime Dipset partner, Cam’ron. During an interview with Ebro Darden on Rap Life Radio for Apple Music, Jones addressed their rocky relationship, which has played out online in recent weeks.

“I don’t want people to think I’m going back and forth, I’m just telling my truth,” Jones explained. “In terms of me telling my truth, people feel they need to have a rebuttal… let them do it.” He made it clear that he doesn’t see this as a battle, despite the ongoing public exchanges.

When asked if there was still a brotherhood between them, Jones shut down the idea. “Nah, it’s definitely no brotherhood. The brotherhood been over damn near since [The Diplomats]. That was where the brotherhood was at.” As for whether they could make amends, he didn’t seem optimistic. “Not right now. Not something I could foresee, but who knows,” he said. “Right now it’s about me. I ain’t got time to focus on nothing else and no one else.”

Their latest fallout began when Cam’ron invited 50 Cent on his show, Talk With Flee, and the two discussed Jones. Jones later fired back in a conversation with Justin Laboy, saying, “Them n***as ain’t got nothing else to think about but Capo. I did a lot for them n***as in their life, ya heard?”

Cam then took shots at Jones on It Is What It Is, questioning his Harlem roots, his role in Dipset’s success, and the possibility of a reunion. In response, Jones dropped a diss track aimed at Cam, adding more fuel to their already heated feud.

Jim Jones Says Ma$e Needs To Lose Weight https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-says-mae-needs-to-lose-weight/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-says-mae-needs-to-lose-weight/#respond Wed, 05 Mar 2025 01:15:51 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=148000 Jim Jones is throwing shots at Ma$e.

During an interview with XXL, Jones was asked his view on “where Ma$e is at in his career, and just his Hip Hop legacy in general.”

Capo took the time to throw some shade at the “Feel So Good” rapper’s weight.

“He needs to go on a diet,” Jones said of Ma$e. “He needs to get his life together. He needs to go to the doctor and get a physical. He look terrible.”

“N*gga look big around the neck, waist look crazy. I’m body-shaming this n-gga. He need to go get his shit together, get on the treadmill, do some push-ups, do something, especially if you’re playing with me. You gonna need it.”

This isn’t the first time that Jones expressed his feelings about Ma$e. Appearing on Justin Laboy’s Respectfully podcast, Jones alleged that Ma$e began to treat Cam’ron differently after his career took off as a solo artist at Bad Records.

“I watched Ma$e shit on Cam and everybody around him. Like, all the time,” he said. “I was Cam’s man, you heard? Cam and Ma$e were so-called best friends, grew up together… I was there for everything. That’s one thing people can’t never say, is that I wasn’t there for every single thing.”

“Cam was jumping out the window for him, which a friend should. Like, being overprotective, making sure nothing happens,” Jones continued. “He was trying his best to make sure that Ma$e stayed as safe as possible. But Ma$e had got that money and lost his motherf**king mind.”

Outside of having a war of worlds with Ma$e and Cam’ron, Jones recently released his first solo album in six years, At the Church Steps. The LP is the sequel to his 2004 album On My Way To Church.

Cam’ron Pins Gervonta Davis Draw on Jim Jones and Juelz Santana https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-pins-gervonta-davis-draw-on-jim-jones-and-juelz-santana/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-pins-gervonta-davis-draw-on-jim-jones-and-juelz-santana/#respond Tue, 04 Mar 2025 17:11:59 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=147977 Cam’ron and Mase floated a curious theory on why Gervonta Davis walked away with a draw against Lamont Roach Jr. at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center over the weekend.

Kicking off the latest episode of It Is What It Is, the duo zeroed in on Davis’ entrance—flanked by Dipset’s Jim Jones and Juelz Santana performing 2004’s “Crunk Muzik”—suggesting the moment may have brought more bad luck than bravado to the boxing champ. “I just want to say something, to your credit,” Cam stated. “A lot of times I’ll be like, ‘This n—a Mase, he be bugging.’ I don’t say it out loud, because your opinion’s your opinion. Mase always says, ‘Yo, don’t bring this n—a out with you, ’cause they’re not going to win if you bring this n—a out with you.’ Talking about football games, basketball games. And I be sitting here, like, ‘I don’t really know.’ But then I got it, when the fight went on. When you got that type of energy and you breathing that energy when everybody’s sad and mad and depressed, [trying to] look happy but they really not happy. It gets into you.”

Harlem Legends Tie Bad Energy to Sports Misfortune

The Harlem rapper added to Mase’s theory: “The people you with could possibly f— your energy up for some sh– that you supposed to do. You can’t come out with that energy, man, it’s bad energy, man. Nobody’s happy over there. … Tank, get outta there,” he added, referencing Davis’ nickname.”

Mase went on to claim that had Meek Mill performed during the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent playoff run, the team would have fallen short of securing their second Super Bowl title. “If Meek Mill walked them out,” he remarked, “They’re not going to win a championship.” Others share this theory. Former NBA athlete Nick Young echoed the sentiment on social media, quipping, “Tank fight was a draw soon as I seen Juelz.” Cam’ron and Jim Jones have been trading jabs for weeks, a feud reignited after 50 Cent‘s appearance on Cam’s Talk With Flee series, where the two revisited their long-standing history.

Cam’ron Refutes Jim Jones’ Verzuz ‘Backdoor’ Claim in Leaked Texts https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-refutes-jim-jones-verzuz-backdoor-claim-in-leaked-texts/ https://www.hot97.com/news/camron-refutes-jim-jones-verzuz-backdoor-claim-in-leaked-texts/#respond Mon, 03 Mar 2025 18:53:05 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=147903 Cam’ron has rebuffed Jim Jones‘ claim that he “backdoored” him in talks for Dipset’s Verzuz matchup against The LOX. The Harlem rapper denied the allegation on Instagram on Sunday (March 2), sharing what he said was a text exchange between them ahead of the much-hyped battle. In the message thread, Jones told Cam he had no interest in compensation for the Verzuz at Madison Square Garden, calling the event a “bucket list” milestone he expected would spark new business prospects.

Jones then expressed he’d even forfeit his share of the earnings to Cam’ron just to bring the showdown to life. “Really I just wanna touch [that] stage in a big way and if I have to take a loss to make a gain I’m willin to,” he stated. Cam then fired back, saying, “It’s not about the money for me bro. It’s about n-ggas keep getting more paper [off] us [than] we get [off] us. (Supreme etc).” “Swizz and [them] ain’t pay nobody then sold the company for 40/50m’s,” he continued, nodding to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s 2021 sale of Verzuz to Triller — a partnership that has since splintered relations. “[I’m] tryna get back for what they did to the cold crush lol.”

Cam’ron and Jim Jones Trade Jabs as Dipset Rift Deepens

Cam’ron responded to Jim Jones through an IG caption, writing, “I don’t pay half the shit n-ggas say no mind. But you know I keep the files. You wanted to do versus for free n-gga. So if you made a dollar be happy.” He added, “Talking bout it was on ya bucket list [face with rolling eyes emoji].. stop tryna re-write history. Now u got alost in the garden and the Barclays [laughing face emojis].” “And ya n-ggas ain’t eating unless they came with they own bread. The boy @sugadugga_ent got more money than you. And let’s bet 10M’s on that. Go get handsome a car a crib in jersey something [facepalm emoji] I’m done..FO NOW.”

Capo voiced his frustrations with Cam’s handling of Dipset’s Verzuz battle during a recent interview last week. “Swizz, holla at me. You backdoored me, gave that man some business that you ain’t give all of us,” he stated, suggesting that he and Juelz Santana were cut out of a deal. He continued, “I need triple what I had last time, the way we put that Verzuz on fire. We had that thing looking like a championship game […] You definitely got to give me triple, Swizz, and you got to give me some real business this time.”

The Harlem rapper said he later approached Swizz Beatz about their dispute, alleging that the Ruff Ryders producer acknowledged his misstep and responded: “I did bad.” Jones also fired back at Cam’ron, addressing what he called a “betrayal”, voicing: “He’ll say, ‘That’s me being a businessman.’ Nah, that’s you being a sucka doing backdoor shit. I stand on 10 toes and I break bread with my n-ggas […] I’m not one of them type of dudes.” At another point in the conversation, Capo issued a $10 million boxing challenge, pledging to “box his head off” as their simmering feud continues to escalate.

Jim Jones Alleges Swizz Beatz and Cam’ron of ‘Backdooring’ Him in Dipset & The Lox Verzuz Deal https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-alleges-swizz-beatz-and-camron-of-backdooring-him-in-dipset-the-lox-verzuz-deal/ https://www.hot97.com/news/jim-jones-alleges-swizz-beatz-and-camron-of-backdooring-him-in-dipset-the-lox-verzuz-deal/#respond Fri, 28 Feb 2025 16:26:36 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=147806 Jim Jones has made accusations against Swizz Beatz and Cam’ron, accusing them of engaging in illicit activities related to Dipset’s Verzuz confrontation with The LOX. During an interview on Thursday (February 27), Jones asserted that Swizz, a Verzuz co-founder alongside Timbaland, orchestrated a covert agreement with Cam to broker the celebrated 2021 face-off. “Swizz, holla at me. You backdoored me, gave that man some business that you ain’t give all of us,” he stated, suggesting that he and Juelz Santana had been shut out of the deal. He continued, “I need triple what I had last time, the way we put that Verzuz on fire. We had that thing looking like a championship game […] You definitely got to give me triple, Swizz, and you got to give me some real business this time.”

Capo went on to suggest that under-the-table moves played a role in the group’s faceoff with The LOX, voicing, “That’s the funny thing about this game. Y’all don’t talk about the backdooring that’s going on for the Verzuz. We got the bag, but boys still went backdoor.” He later disclosed that he addressed his grievances directly with Swizz Beatz, who allegedly acknowledged his misstep, saying, “I did bad.” Additionally, Jones lashed out at Cam’ron, citing the alleged betrayal, stating, “He’ll say, ‘That’s me being a businessman.’ Nah, that’s you being a sucka doing backdoor shit. I stand on 10 toes and I break bread with my n-ggas […] I’m not one of them type of dudes.”

Jim Jones Challenges Cam’ron to $10 Million Boxing Match Amid Viral Feud

ones also took aim at the “Killa Cam” rapper’s performance during the face-off. “He mad ’cause he got booed and we lost. Let’s tell the truth. He got booed at the end! He forgot his freestyle,” he said. Swizz Beatz and Cam’ron have remained silent on the allegations. After the interview aired, Swizz showed support for Jones’ At the Church Steps album on social media.

During the exchange, Jim Jones threw down the gauntlet, daring Cam to step into the ring and settle their reignited feud with a boxing match. “He’s a birdhead. He don’t want no smoke. I’ll box his head off. Where’s the ring at?” he declared. “You getting money, right? $10 million right now. Today, n-gga. I’ll catch a flight wherever you at. You with Mayweather and ’em. $10 million. I’ll meet you in any boxing ring.” He continued, “Now go make some jokes about that on your next show. I’ll box your head off. You know that. Don’t play with me. Now go type about that.”

Jones’ brief tirade came after Cam’ron’s recent assertion that he played a role in landing artists behind bars rather than elevating their careers. Killa Cam’s recent marks went viral after he made the claims on his It Is What It Is podcast. “Stop tricking n-ggas out of their freedom, bro. ‘Cause n-ggas get around you to put theirselves in better situations, not to be in worst situations than before they met you. You send them on dummy missions and trick them out of their freedom,” he stated.
