NBA YoungBoy has received a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump.

On Wednesday (March 28), YoungBoy, along with eight others, including real estate entrepreneurs Todd and Julie Chrisley and Michael Grimm, a former GOP Congressman, were granted clemency.

In a statement, YoungBoy expressed his gratitude for being pardoned.

“I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building – as a man, as a father, and as an artist,” YoungBoy said in a statement shared to social media. “This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I’ve worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this.”

“Big thanks to the Pardon Czar, Ms. Alice Marie Johnson, for fighting for second chances for so many people, and to my lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, for being in my corner and all your hard work to make this possible,” his statement continued. “And thank you to everyone who believed in me.”

Throughout his career, YoungBoy has faced constant legal troubles, including firearms charges and house arrest. Even while dealing with legal issues, the Baton Rouge rapper has dropped several albums and mixtapes while serving time in prison.

Youngboy’s pardon comes in just as his upcoming 27-city concert run, which begins on September 2 in Dallas, is called the Make America Smile Again (MASA) .

Yaya Mayweather Goes Viral Over NBA YoungBoy Tattoo https://www.hot97.com/news/yaya-mayweather-goes-viral-over-nba-youngboy-tattoo/ https://www.hot97.com/news/yaya-mayweather-goes-viral-over-nba-youngboy-tattoo/#respond Thu, 22 May 2025 17:29:14 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=152561 Yaya Mayweather set social media ablaze on May 20, 2025, when she revealed a detailed tattoo of rapper NBA YoungBoy’s face on her left arm.

The reveal, part of her 25th birthday celebration, came alongside another headline-grabbing gift—a Lamborghini Urus, reportedly from YoungBoy himself. Though he is currently married to Jazlyn Mychelle, Yaya’s bold ink quickly became a trending topic, drawing attention from hip-hop fans and celebrity watchers alike.

The tattoo first appeared in a viral Instagram post. Some applauded her fearlessness and loyalty, while others questioned why she would honor someone with whom she shares a tumultuous past.

Since first being linked in 2018, Yaya and YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, have had a dramatic relationship marked by breakups, reconciliations, and a 2020 altercation that led to Yaya’s probation. They share a son, Kentrell Jr., born in 2021, keeping them connected despite YoungBoy’s current family life.

Yaya’s ink joins a long list of celebrity tattoos that reflect personal entanglements. From Nick Cannon’s back piece for Mariah Carey to Ariana Grande’s ink for Pete Davidson, body art often becomes a symbol of public devotion—and later, regret. These tattoos blur the lines between romance and self-branding, between love and spectacle.

For Yaya, the portrait might represent more than love. As the daughter of Floyd Mayweather, she has lived in the shadow of a global legacy.

Marking her skin with YoungBoy’s image could be an act of defiance or self-definition. Whether fans view it as a passionate gesture or a reckless move, it adds to her evolving narrative.

In an age where celebrity identity is shaped in real time, Yaya’s tattoo is more than ink. It’s a declaration—personal, bold, and impossible to ignore.

NBA YoungBoy’s Security Accused in Gunpoint Showdown With Neighbors https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboys-security-accused-in-gunpoint-showdown-with-neighbors/ https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboys-security-accused-in-gunpoint-showdown-with-neighbors/#respond Fri, 11 Apr 2025 16:10:08 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=150204 NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, has made headlines once again as he adjusts to life outside of prison. After nearly a year behind bars, YoungBoy has settled back into his luxurious mansion in Utah, but not without stirring up a whirlwind of discussions surrounding his return.

Local news outlet KUTV reports that the rapper has fortified his residence with a substantial presence of armed security personnel, raising eyebrows in the quiet neighborhood. The mansion is now encircled by guards clad in black attire and ski masks, a move that has not gone unnoticed by nearby residents.

One neighbor shared her unsettling encounter with the security team, recounting, “I was approached by two individuals in bulletproof vests. They were dressed all in black, and one of them had an AK-47 slung across his chest. It certainly creates an atmosphere of anxiety.” Despite the tension, she expressed her intention to welcome YoungBoy back with a batch of homemade cookies, recalling a friendly exchange they had previously, even amidst a troubling incident involving their dogs. “He’s just a young guy who was really kind to me; he called me ‘ma’am,’” she reflected.

Cleared for security, YoungBoy eyes comeback under curfew

Authorities have confirmed that the security detail is operating with the necessary permits for the protection of the property, validating YoungBoy’s choice to prioritize safety in the wake of his release.

YoungBoy, who was released last month after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including identity fraud and forgery, has avoided additional prison time. His prior conviction related to gun possession led to a 27-month sentence, which he served before facing these new allegations. He was initially scheduled for release in July but was granted an earlier exit, the reasons for which have not been disclosed.

As part of his release conditions, YoungBoy is subject to a 30-day curfew, requiring him to remain at his residence. However, sources indicate that he is already laying the groundwork for an extensive tour, signaling his determination to re-establish his presence in the music industry.

NBA Youngboy Released From Federal Prison https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-released-from-federal-prison/ https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-released-from-federal-prison/#respond Tue, 25 Mar 2025 13:12:37 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=149235 NBA YoungBoy appears to have secured an early release from prison, catching many fans by surprise.

According to DJ Akademiks and publicly available court and prison records, the Baton Rouge rapper is no longer behind bars. Though details remain scarce, speculation suggests he may have been transferred to a halfway house or sent directly home.

This development contradicts previous reports that projected his release for April 26, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his legal status. Until official confirmation emerges, the circumstances of his release remain unclear.

The news comes amid ongoing discussions about NBA YoungBoy’s legal troubles, which involve charges related to prescription fraud, probation violations, and firearms possession. While his legal battles have dominated headlines, his music continues to fuel his momentum. Just days before reports of his release surfaced, he dropped More Leaks, a mixtape compiling fan-favorite snippets and previously unreleased tracks. Given his relentless output, his return to freedom could mark the beginning of another prolific era.

DJ Akademiks, who first reported the news, also hinted at upcoming music from some of hip-hop’s biggest names. Speaking at an Adin Ross boxing event, he mentioned that Drake, Lil Durk, and YoungBoy all have new material on the way. While it’s unclear whether he was referring to the rapper’s legal status or upcoming releases, the timing suggests YoungBoy may soon be back in the studio.

Despite his legal troubles, NBA YoungBoy’s influence in rap remains undeniable. The RIAA recently recognized him as one of the most commercially successful rappers of the decade, highlighting his rare achievement of earning eight platinum albums within ten years. With his apparent release, he may now have the chance to extend that streak even further.

For now, YoungBoy has yet to address his release publicly, leaving fans eager for clarity. Whether this new chapter brings more music, legal complications, or both, his presence in hip-hop remains as dominant as ever.

NBA YoungBoy Drops Final Album Before Prison Release https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-drops-final-album-before-prison-release/ https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-drops-final-album-before-prison-release/#respond Fri, 28 Feb 2025 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=147839 NBA YoungBoy is preparing to release a new album as he inches closer to his prison release. His team took to the rapper’s company Instagram page to announce More Leaks, which is set to drop on March 7th. Fans can expect the first single this Friday, February 28th. “Last project before TOP is back,” the caption read, hinting that this will be his final release before he regains his freedom. Based on the title, the album is likely a collection of previously leaked tracks. This project follows I Just Got A Lot On My Shoulders, which arrived in December 2024 as YoungBoy’s first album of the year.

Last month, it was revealed that the rapper will be released from prison on July 27th. His legal troubles stem from a final plea deal he took for a gun possession charge and his role in a prescription medication fraud scheme. The agreement, which was reached privately in September, required YoungBoy to admit to possessing multiple illegal firearms while filming a music video in Baton Rouge back in 2020. Originally, he was sentenced to 23 months in prison, five years of probation, and a $200,000 fine. He also had to forfeit the firearms. However, the final deal was later modified, crediting him for time served up until May 2024. This change allows for an early release this summer.

YoungBoy pleaded guilty to multiple fraud and forgery charges. As part of the plea deal, they were reduced to misdemeanors. This resulted in a $25,000 fine with no additional jail time. The judge overseeing his case noted that the decision was made to give the rapper a chance to move forward. At the time, he was already facing federal gun charges.

NBA YoungBoy Set For July 2025 Release https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-set-for-july-2025-release/ https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-set-for-july-2025-release/#respond Mon, 13 Jan 2025 18:16:21 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=145032 NBA YoungBoy is set to be released from prison on July 27th, 2025, marking a significant turn in the 25-year-old rapper’s legal journey. Last September, YoungBoy agreed to a plea deal related to gun possession and a prescription medication fraud scheme. The agreement required him to admit to having multiple illegal firearms during a 2020 music video shoot in Baton Rouge. Originally sentenced to 23 months in prison, five years of probation, and a $200,000 fine, he was also ordered to forfeit the firearms. However, an amended deal reduced his sentence, crediting time served up until May 2024.

The rapper, whose legal name is Kentrell Gaulden, also faced charges of identity fraud, forgery, and unlawful pharmacy conduct. By pleading guilty as part of a broader deal, four felony charges were downgraded to misdemeanors, leaving him with a $25,000 fine and no additional jail time. Judge Spencer Walsh emphasized rehabilitation over punishment, stating, “I’ve seen so many times where you have young men and women who have a lot of talent and potential. They can be robbed of that potential when they start to really struggle with their addictions.” The judge added, “Best of luck to you, Mr. Gaulden.”

YoungBoy’s decision to plead guilty to the federal gun charges stemmed from a 2020 incident where he was seen with a weapon during a music video shoot. Had he chosen to contest the charges in court, he risked a potential 10-year sentence. With his release now imminent, the rapper has an opportunity to turn his focus toward his music career and personal growth while on federal probation.

Floyd Mayweather Gifts Grandson Building In NYC’s Diamond District For Christmas https://www.hot97.com/news/floyd-mayweather-gifts-grandson-nba-youngboys-son-a-building-in-nycs-diamond-district-for-christmas/ https://www.hot97.com/news/floyd-mayweather-gifts-grandson-nba-youngboys-son-a-building-in-nycs-diamond-district-for-christmas/#respond Fri, 27 Dec 2024 15:47:03 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=144166 NBA Youngboy may not have been home with his children for the holidays, but boxing icon Floyd Mayweather ensured the season was memorable for YoungBoy’s 3-year-old son, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden Jr. On December 25, Mayweather surprised his grandson with an extraordinary gift: a property in New York City’s prestigious Diamond District.

In a video shared on Instagram, Mayweather revealed the gesture with pride. “I got you a gift. Guess what I bought you?” he said before delivering the big news. “You’re the first kid to own a building in the Diamond District.”

The U.S. Golden Gloves champion further delighted his grandson by pointing out their matching Bluey pajamas, adding a touch of festive cheer.

Kentrell Jr., born in 2021 to YoungBoy and Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, is the seventh child of the Baton Rouge rapper, who has children from other relationships, including with social media influencers Jania Meshell and Drea Symone. Despite YoungBoy’s current absence, Mayweather’s gift underscores his role as a steadying presence in his grandson’s life.

Mayweather has often expressed his support for YoungBoy, sharing insights into their bond earlier this year. “We speak regularly,” Mayweather said in February. “I’m proud of his career. He’s young, and like anyone at that age, he’s growing. As you get older, your perspective changes.”

YoungBoy, however, faces significant legal challenges. Earlier this month, he was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and an additional 60 months of probation for his involvement in a prescription drug fraud case in Utah. His charges—initially including identity fraud, forgery, and unlawful pharmacy conduct—were reduced, with some downgraded to misdemeanors. Having already spent time on house arrest since May, he may receive credit for time served, potentially shortening his incarceration.

Floyd Mayweather’s grand gesture brings a glimmer of joy amidst these difficulties, offering Kentrell Jr. a symbol of stability and an extraordinary legacy for the future. For now, the building in the heart of New York City stands as a testament to family and resilience during challenging times.

NBA YoungBoy Sentenced To 23 Months In Prison https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-sentenced-to-23-months-in-prison/ https://www.hot97.com/news/nba-youngboy-sentenced-to-23-months-in-prison/#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 22:03:19 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=143303 NBA YoungBoy has received his official prison sentence, which includes 23 months behind bars followed by 60 months of probation in Utah, where he has been on house arrest. This sentence stems from two separate gun cases. The first incident occurred in September 2020, when the Louisiana rapper was found in possession of two firearms during a music video shoot in Baton Rouge. The second case involved another gun possession at his home in Huntsville, Utah, after a search warrant was executed in April of this year.

Originally, YoungBoy faced 27 months in prison, but his sentence was reduced by four months to 23 months. While not a drastic change, the reduction still offers some improvement, as four fewer months in prison is beneficial.

Despite his major success in the music industry, YoungBoy has faced ongoing legal troubles throughout his career. Logan District Judge Spencer Walsh handed down the original sentence. He expressed sympathy for the rapper, acknowledging how addiction can cause young people to lose their potential. “I’ve seen so many times where you have young men and women who have a lot of talent and potential. They can be robbed of that potential when they start to really struggle with their addictions. I don’t want that for you,” Judge Walsh said. He went on to encourage YoungBoy. He believes the rapper can have a successful future once his prison time is over. Originally, YoungBoy faced 27 months in prison, but his sentence has been reduced to 23 months. “I’m sure that in your future, once you’re done with your federal prison time, you can be really successful on federal probation and have a really bright future where you can reach your full potential in every aspect of your life. Best of luck to you, Mr. Gaulden.”

As previously reported, on Monday, the rapper appeared in a Utah courtroom to finalize a plea agreement in his prescription drug fraud case.

Youngboy reportedly pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of identity fraud and two counts of forgery, both third-degree felonies, along with six misdemeanor counts of unlawful pharmacy conduct. As part of the deal, he will pay a $25,000 fine.

“Free all da fine sht [crying emojis],” wrote Sexyy Red following the report.

The rapper will avoid additional jail time. During the hearing, Judge Spencer Walsh of Logan District says “I’ve seen it many times,” Wash says in reference to the struggles many artists face with addiction. “Young men and women with a lot of promise can lose that promise when they battle addiction. I don’t want that for you.”

“Once you’re done with your federal time, you can be successful on probation and have a bright future ahead,” the judge said. “Best of luck to you, Mr. Gaulden.”

NBA YoungBoy Pleads Out In Drug Fraud Case https://www.hot97.com/news/youngboy-never-broke-again-pleads-out-in-drug-fraud-case/ https://www.hot97.com/news/youngboy-never-broke-again-pleads-out-in-drug-fraud-case/#respond Tue, 19 Nov 2024 19:37:27 +0000 https://www.hot97.com/?p=141987 On Monday, YoungBoy Never Broke Again appeared in a Utah courtroom to finalize a plea agreement in his prescription drug fraud case. According to reports, the rapper pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of identity fraud and two counts of forgery, both third-degree felonies, along with six misdemeanor counts of unlawful pharmacy conduct. As part of the deal, he will pay a $25,000 fine.

The 25-year-old artist, who is already facing a 27-month federal sentence on related charges, will avoid additional jail time. During the hearing, Judge Spencer Walsh of Logan District spoke directly to YoungBoy, acknowledging the struggles many talented individuals face when addiction threatens their potential. “I’ve seen it many times,” Walsh said. “Young men and women with a lot of promise can lose that promise when they battle addiction. I don’t want that for you.”

Walsh encouraged YoungBoy, expressing confidence that after serving his federal sentence, he could turn his life around. “Once you’re done with your federal time, you can be successful on probation and have a bright future ahead,” the judge said. “Best of luck to you, Mr. Gaulden.”

YoungBoy Faces Probation After Prescription Fraud Arrest

YoungBoy Never Broke Again will face five years of probation following his release.

The prescription fraud investigation began when authorities detained five individuals in YoungBoy’s vehicle, attempting to pick up a forged prescription. A tip-off led to the discovery when a caller, claiming to be Gwendolyn White but unable to confirm her birth year, aroused suspicion among pharmacists who recognized the voice didn’t match the name provided.

As ABC4 reported, the rapper, known for his hit “No Smoke,” was relocated to Utah to avoid legal entanglements stemming from a 2019 Miami shooting. In April, he was arrested on charges of prescription drug fraud, identity theft, and weapons possession, allegedly involving 15 pharmacies in Cache County. At the time, YoungBoy was already under house arrest for federal gun charges, which he was accused of violating earlier that year.
