Floyd Mayweather responds after reports claim he was attacked during a visit to London.
The boxing champion was in the city for a brief 48-hour trip when things took a sudden turn. While out shopping, Mayweather was reportedly assaulted, with some sources suggesting the incident was linked to his public support of Israel.
According to reports, a witness told The Sun that the altercation happened after he told the crowd he was “proud to support the Jews.”
“Someone said that Mayweather had been shopping when he was asked why he supported Israel,” the bystander said. “He doubled down and said he was proud to support the Jews,” they continued. The onlooker also adds that the attack “looked very targeted.”
Mayweather took to Instagram to set the record straight and address the rumors. He clarified that not only was he not punched, but his security team was actually seen in the video calmly defusing the situation.
“Let me set the record straight… there’s no truth to the rumors circulating. I wasn’t punched or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is simply my security doing their job to keep things under control. I was in the UK for a quick 48-hour trip to do some shopping, and unfortunately, some people let jealousy and negativity fuel false stories. I’m perfectly fine, and that’s really all there is to it.”
