Boosie had a standout moment this weekend at Funk Fest in Jacksonville, Florida, when he was awarded two honorary doctorates. The crowd went wild as the rapper, now officially Dr. Hatch, received recognition for his contributions to music. Wearing a cap and gown, Boosie was presented with honorary degrees in Music Composition and Music Management by Kingdom Heritage University. The event quickly turned into a celebration of his legacy, and Boosie soaked in the love from fans who were cheering for him.

During the ceremony, a representative from the university spoke about Boosie’s journey, praising him for sharing his truth and using his platform with purpose. “Your pain has not been wasted, your platform has a purpose,” they said. “Your legacy is just beginning. We know your name as Lil Boosie, heaven will now know you as Dr. Hatch.” The moment felt like a graduation, and Boosie embraced it fully, clearly moved by the honor.

Boosie later took to Instagram to reflect on the achievement, smiling widely as he declared, “I’m a doctor, dog. Doctor Hatch.” However, the celebration came on the heels of a challenging legal situation. On May 10th, just a day earlier, Boosie lost in court when prosecutors overturned the dismissal of his firearm possession case. The charges stemmed from an arrest in 2023 after he was caught on Instagram Live with a firearm. While the legal setback was difficult, the honorary doctorates seemed to lift his spirits.

Boosie shared his emotions on Instagram, revealing how much the recognition meant to him. “I was down on Friday, but Saturday came and Heritage University made me a doctor,” he said. “They can never take this away from me.”
