In a striking display of artistry and bravado, A$AP Rocky unveiled a new song during his headline performance at Rolling Loud California this past weekend, delving into the long-standing rivalry among hip-hop titans Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and J. Cole.

Perched dramatically on the edge of a helicopter, the Harlem-born artist delivered a powerful message that made his stance on the so-called “Big Three” crystal clear. In a bold proclamation, he rapped, “I ain’t on J. Cole’s, I ain’t on Drake’s, I ain’t on Kendrick’s side / I choose homicide, they gon’ see a different side,” showcasing a fierce commitment to his own artistic identity. The song also appears to target A$AP Relli, a former associate from A$AP Mob, who had recently brought a lawsuit against Rocky—ultimately losing—over accusations related to an incident in 2021. With biting lyrics, Rocky expressed his sentiment: “N-ggas do the most when they irrelevant / Claiming A$AP, but we were never friends.”

In addition to this fiery new track, Rocky introduced several other fresh songs during his set, including collaborations with notable producers Metro Boomin and BossMan Dlow. However, he remained tight-lipped about whether these tracks would feature on his anticipated upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb.

The tension with Drake, rooted in past allegations regarding his girlfriend Rihanna’s rumored involvement with the Canadian rapper, has been a recurring theme in Rocky’s recent work. This rivalry escalated when Drake seemingly took jabs at the couple in his 2023 track “Fear of Heights,” prompting Rocky to respond in songs like “Highjack” and others. Despite the ongoing feud, Rocky has downplayed the significance of this rift in previous interviews. He remarked, “You got to realize, certain n-ggas was throwing shots for years. I ain’t in the middle of that shit. That’s not how I retaliate right now.” He further emphasized the gravity of real-world issues, stating, “I got bigger fish to fry than some pussy boys. It is real beef outside… That little kitty shit ain’t about nothing.”

As for his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb, Rocky has recently suggested that it is nearing completion. In an interview with GQ, he stated, “I’m in the mixing and mastering realm of it… They’re just ready to get this shit, you know what I’m saying? The album’s done. I just want to drop it.” He is eager to share his new material, asserting his commitment to delivering long-awaited content to his fans.
