DDG has responded to the controversy surrounding the extravagant gift he showcased for his son Halo’s first birthday—a full-sized Ferrari. Recently, he admitted that the luxury vehicle was a rental rather than a permanent present, a revelation that has stirred conversation among fans.

During a livestream with model India Love, DDG set the record straight about the situation. “If I’m being honest, I rented it,” he confessed. “I thought it was a cool idea. It made for a great moment, and one day, he’ll be able to look back at it.” His explanation followed widespread skepticism over why a toddler would be gifted a real car.

A Milestone Celebration Amid Co-Parenting Challenges

The celebration also marked the first time DDG and his former partner, Halle Bailey, were seen together publicly since their split. The two came together for their son’s big day, with Bailey leading a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday” in front of guests. Both parents later took to social media to share their excitement. Bailey reflected on the milestone, writing, “A year ago today, my baby arrived—can’t believe he’s 1! More to come later.” DDG also shared his joy, posting, “THE BEST BABY IN THE WORLD JUST TURNED 1!”

This isn’t the first time DDG’s parenting decisions have drawn criticism. Months prior, Bailey voiced frustration over their son’s unexpected appearance on a livestream hosted by popular content creator Kai Cenat. “Just so everyone knows, I’m out of town, and I didn’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight,” she posted on X in November. “I wasn’t told in advance, and I’m really upset that he was in front of millions of people without my knowledge. As his mother, I want to protect him, and it’s disappointing not to have been consulted—especially while I’m away.”

Later, Bailey elaborated on her concerns, opening up about her experience with postpartum struggles and the need for clear parental boundaries. “Going through severe postpartum is challenging, and there are limits I need to have respected. People don’t always understand what someone is dealing with until it becomes too much.” While some fans empathized with Bailey, others questioned her response. Despite the divided opinions, DDG has publicly acknowledged her feelings, signaling an effort to navigate co-parenting amid their personal challenges.
