Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR are facing allegations of intellectual property theft just as they prepare to release their collaborative project. Freddie Gibbs took to social media on Thursday (February 13) to suggest the duo copied the title of their upcoming album, $ome $exy $ongs 4U, from his 2022 project, $oul $old $eparately.

Though Gibbs seemed irritated, he initially downplayed his frustration. “Damn, they even stole the rabbits too,” he tweeted, referencing the imagery from his album. He followed up with a clip from his 2022 trailer, playfully mocking Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR by captioning it, “$$$4U.” In another post, he gave a nod to Soulja Boy, who famously accused Drake of copying his flow in a viral Breakfast Club interview.

While some fans dismissed Gibbs’ accusations, others rallied behind him. One user defended him but remained unconvinced, quoting an old Drake tweet from 2013 that simply read, “$$$…the green persuader.” Another replied to Gibbs’ post with a photo of him and Drake, writing, “This is part of his playbook.”

Beyond Gibbs’ claims, the duo is also accused of lifting the album’s cover art concept. A hip-hop fan page on Twitter pointed out similarities between their artwork and visuals from Canadian artist John River, who is also from Mississauga, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s hometown.

According to the tweet, River met with PARTYNEXTDOOR and other OVO members to discuss his music video for Hope City II. The conversations reportedly focused on Mississauga’s Marilyn Monroe Towers, a distinctive landmark featured in both River’s video and the cover art for $ome $exy $ongs 4U.

Neither Drake nor PARTYNEXTDOOR has responded to the accusations.
