Sexyy Red found herself at the center of a wild conspiracy theory last Friday, March 29th, after a parody account, DailyNoud, shared a fake article on X (formerly Twitter). The post falsely claimed that the “SkeeYee” rapper was secretly a CIA agent, allegedly working undercover since 2018 under the codename “Agent Bow Wow.” The satirical piece went on to describe her as “highly destabilizing and culturally critical,” according to supposed “officials.”
Some people took the joke seriously, but Sexyy didn’t hesitate to play along. She reposted the article and responded with, “Damn they got me shattt 🥷🏾.”
A longtime fan chimed in on the post, sharing old clips of her music videos while acknowledging the humor behind the “CIA agent” and industry plant jokes. However, they made it clear that Sexyy’s rise to fame was anything but fabricated. “BUT, i always gotta stand by the authenticity. Sexyy Red been grinding for literal years. Personally i loved that she blew up,” they wrote.
This isn’t the first time the rapper has faced outlandish accusations. As Vibe pointed out in 2023, some have randomly taken shots at her, including one person who once suggested she was being promoted to “misguide” Black women. She clapped back, writing, “Makin y’all shake a** misguiding y’all?”
Sexyy’s journey in music has been real from the start. The St. Louis rapper has been putting in work since 2018, and her latest mixtape, In Sexyy We Trust, dropped last May.
