RADIO SCAM ALERT

Be aware of deceptive schemes targeting artists online. Hot 97 is issuing an urgent warning about scammers and imposters illegally impersonating our station and on-air personalities seeking payment.

Often, scammers create fake social media accounts and e-mail addresses, stealing logos and photos from Hot 97 and its personalities, pretending to be Hot 97 or the personality. The message or caller claims to represent Hot 97 or a talent and promises airplay of the artist’s music in exchange for a payment – this is when you know the offer is a scam.

Do NOT send money to anyone making such requests. Hot 97 and its on-air personalities never charge or solicit payment for airplay. Protect yourself and report the scam at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
