Shannon Sharpe and his elder brother, Sterling made history with his recent induction to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. On Thursday (Feb.6), the NFL shared a clip online of the lucky inductees getting that iconic knock at the door. However, for the Sharpe brothers, it was a bit more personal. In a heartwarming moment, The Club Shay Shay host stopped by Sterling’s home to share the news with him. “Welcome bro,” Shannon says to his brother, as his smile radiates through the screen.

“To your house?” Sterling responds as he goes to embrace his younger brother. Shannon had been inducted over a decade ago in 2011. “To the Pro Football Hall Of Fame Class Of 2025,” Shannon replied as the two shared another long embrace. The official induction ceremony is set for Saturday, Aug.5 at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

“I had to follow him to get to where I’m going,” Shannon Sharpe says Regarding his admiration for his brother

Sterling had an impressive career as a wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately, the five-time Pro Bowl superstar had his career cut short after a neck injury. Luckily, his younger brother Shannon excelled ahead as a tight end for the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens.

Shannon has always admired his older brother for paving the way for him. On a recent live episode of his Nightcap podcast with Chad “Ochocinco,” Johnson, Shannon tearfully recalled the importance of his brother’s presence. “People ask why [I get emotional] because I had to follow him to get to where I’m going,” Sharpe says to the crowd. “I got to walk in his footsteps. Almost everything I learned I learned from him.”

He added: “For my brother to do what he did with no instruction manual, and to get me to where I got.”
