Chris Brown’s European tour is on indefinite pause after a London judge denied bail, ruling his assault case too serious for a lower court. The singer was taken into custody last week and will remain behind bars in the U.K. until at least June 13, when he’s set to appear before Southwark Crown Court.

The charges stem from a 2023 incident at TAPE nightclub in London’s Hanover Square, where Brown is accused of assaulting music producer Abe Diaw. The alleged attack led to a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent, which was formally filed in Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

Brown was arrested by Metropolitan Police while staying at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester. During his court appearance, he wore sweatpants and a black T-shirt, with bleached blonde hair, and was escorted by court officers as he confirmed his name, date of birth, and temporary address.

Judge Joanne Hirst denied his request for bail, citing flight risk concerns. “The risk of flight is too significant,” she stated. That decision has effectively halted Brown’s Breezy Bowl XX tour, which was set to kick off in Amsterdam this June.

The case will now proceed in a higher court due to the severity of the charges. Until his next hearing, Brown will remain in custody, casting major doubt over the fate of his remaining European tour dates.

The Stomp the Yard star is no stranger to controversy, but this latest legal situation could have lasting effects on his ability to perform overseas. With his freedom and tour plans hanging in the balance, Brown’s future remains uncertain as the court prepares to hear the full case next month.
