Chris Brown is taking legal steps to shield his personal and family information as a lawsuit tied to a 2021 dog attack continues to unfold. The singer recently filed an emergency motion in Los Angeles, asking the court to keep parts of his testimony under wraps.
As reported by AllHipHop, Brown’s legal team argues that releasing private information, like his home address, could compromise the safety of his children and relatives. “Mr. Brown has historically had issues with intruders and trespassers on his property,” the filing reads. “On one occasion, after having returned from a tour, Mr. Brown came home to a stranger who had broken into and was living in his house.” His attorneys say the risk of publicizing this data goes beyond mere inconvenience, calling it a real safety concern: “These sorts of targeted break-ins not only constitute an ‘unwarranted annoyance’ but also threaten Mr. Brown’s and his family’s safety.”
The urgency behind the request comes after the opposing side declined to keep Brown’s deposition sealed. Maria Avila, one of the former housekeepers involved in the case, is suing for $90 million, claiming she was violently attacked by Brown’s dog, Hades, while he was home and failed to intervene.
The case isn’t set to go to trial until February 2026, but it’s one of several legal challenges Brown is juggling. He’s also locked in a separate battle with Warner Bros., seeking $500 million in damages for defamation. Brown alleges that a recent docuseries portrayed him as a “serial rapist and sexual abuser”, a characterization he strongly disputes.
As Brown tries to keep details of his personal life out of the spotlight, the legal pressure surrounding him only continues to build.
