Charles Barkley and Kendrick Perkins are revisiting their beef.
During NBA Tip-Off, TNT’s pregame show on Thursday (March 6), Barkley called Perkins and other NBA analysts at ESPN’s “idiots” for claiming the Los Angeles Lakers are saving the NBA.
“I want all the smoke,” Barkley said. “The Lakers are doing great, they got a long way to go.”
The Hall of Famer then said that the sports network was consumed with talking about the Lakers while overlooking the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Cleveland Cavaliers who are at the top of their respective conferences.
“Y’all are idiots because y’all talk about the Lakers and the Warriors all the time. Y’all are talking about who is in second place,” Barkley continued. “That’s the reason I get pissed.” He then claimed that the Lakers only had “two great weeks.”
Never one not to respond, Perkins took to X (formerly Twitter) and fired back at Sir Charles.
“Hey @NBAonTNT might wanna tell that senior citizen Charles Barkley that I’ll be around,” Perkins wrote. “When he see an idiot or fool in person make sure he keep that same energy. He can come playing with me if he want to and imma Address his ass like the numbers on a house. Straight from the 409 homeboy and we bar none and fade all. #TexasBoy.”
Giving his take on the matter, Stephen A. Smith told Barkley to cut the “b.s.” in a post.
“Yo Chuck, stop the b.s. with the “y’all.” Attach a name to it. I know I’ve been talking about @cavs being the No.1 threat to the @Celtics,” Smith wrote. “Once you come over here, there’s gonna be some folks waiting to call YOU a fool. P.S. You know I love ya, though. See y’all soon. Yo @TheJetOnTNT….workbook those free throws😀. Love y’all,”
This is not the first war of words between Barkley and Perkins. In April, Perkins was critical of the Inside the NBA crew for “obviously” not paying attention to basketball.
In response, Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal called Perkins a “roach” and smacked a punching bag with his face on it.
Interestingly, Inside the NBA will debut on ESPN, and ABC next season where Barkley and Perkins will work at the same company.
