During a crucial time in her career, Jennifer Lopez fondly remembers getting some inspirational words from Jamie Foxx.

In promotion of her new film Unstoppable, J-Lo said Foxx helped her make it through season three of In Living Color.

“If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have made it through that season. That was when I first got to L.A…. I used to [go back to New York ] every weekend ’cause I was so lonely. I hated it,” Lopez told Entertainment Weekly.

“I missed my family. Jamie and I became really good friends, and we’re still friends to this day, honestly. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have gotten through that. I might have moved back to New York, and none of this would have ever happened. We would not be here right now,” she continued.

Interestingly, her co-star Jharrel Jerome said he received an unexpected call from Foxx.

After starring in Moonlight, Jerome had trouble navigating his newfound fame. Then, he got a call from the Academy Award winner.

“He just told me to breathe,” Jerome recalled. “I can’t remember exactly what he said, but he said the word ‘breathe’ while I’m on this balcony, and I’m freaking out ’cause Jamie Foxx is on the phone.”

In Unstoppable, Lopez and Jerome play a mother and son, Judy and Anthony Robles who became an NCAA champion wrestler although he was born with one leg. While a champion on the mat,  at home, he’s subject to constant abuse from his stepfather.

Taking to Instagram, shared her excitement about her latest film.

“When I first learned about the true story behind Unstoppable, I was moved beyond words. It’s a testament to resilience, grit, and the human spirit. This film is a celebration of the fighters and the dreamers who refuse to give up, no matter the odds,” her post read.

“Thank you, EW. It was such an honor playing Judy Robles in this incredible story about her son Anthony Robles,” she continued. “Both Anthony and Judy are real examples and define what it means to be UNSTOPPABLE.”

Unstoppable premieres in select theaters on Dec. 6 before being available from streaming on Jan. 16 on Prime Video.
