Fivio Foreign has spent most of 2025 behind bars, but a potential turning point may be on the horizon for the Brooklyn drill star.

The rapper, best known for his track “City of Gods,” has been incarcerated since January following a weapons-related arrest on New Year’s Day in Edgewater, New Jersey. However, a recent plea deal could alter the trajectory of his case.

According to the New Jersey Public Information Office, Fivio—real name Maxie Ryles III—pleaded guilty to one count of making terroristic threats, a third-degree charge involving threats of violence. His legal team, led by attorney Adam Lustberg, confirmed that four additional charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and aggravated assault, are expected to be dismissed as part of the agreement.

The arrest stemmed from an incident in which a woman accused Fivio of pulling a gun on her after she asked him for a jump-start for her car. Police responded to the scene and later charged the rapper with multiple offenses. The situation quickly escalated into a serious legal battle, putting Fivio’s career on pause and leaving fans uncertain about his future.

Now, after nearly six months in jail, the rapper may avoid further incarceration. Lustberg expressed hope that his client will receive probation at sentencing in August, noting that Fivio’s time served should weigh heavily in the court’s decision.

Fivio Foreign’s legal issues have cast a shadow over what was once shaping up to be a pivotal year. His absence from the scene has been felt across New York’s drill movement, where he remains a central figure.

Known for his energetic delivery and collaborations with artists like Kanye West and Alicia Keys, Fivio had been steadily building momentum. That progress stalled with his arrest, raising questions about whether he’d be able to reclaim his place in the culture upon release.

While his plea deal may signal a second chance, the road ahead is far from certain. The rapper still awaits final sentencing, and the long-term impact of the arrest on his reputation and career remains to be seen.

For now, fans will have to wait until August to learn whether one of New York’s most prominent voices will walk free—or continue fighting from behind bars.
