Tory Lanez has entered a new chapter in his incarceration following a near-fatal stabbing inside a California prison.

The Canadian rapper, born Daystar Peterson, was transferred from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi to the California Men’s Colony (CMC) in San Luis Obispo. The move comes after a violent assault that left him hospitalized with two collapsed lungs and multiple stab wounds.

His attorney, Crystal Morgan, says he’s recovering physically but remains emotionally rattled. The sudden transfer disrupted the support system Lanez had begun building behind bars. Still, CMC offers a safer, more rehabilitative setting—something Tehachapi could no longer provide.

The attack, which occurred earlier this year, made headlines for its severity. Lanez was reportedly stabbed 14 times. Whether the assault was gang-related or a targeted act remains unclear. But its intensity forced prison officials to reevaluate his safety, leading to the transfer.

CMC is a lower-security facility known for structured programs and reduced violence. It presents a stark contrast to Tehachapi’s volatile environment. Though his new placement may improve his security, Lanez is said to be uneasy about leaving the community he had grown accustomed to.

There has been no confirmation of an internal investigation, though such incidents usually prompt administrative reviews or possible criminal charges. Reactions to the stabbing remain divided. Some see it as a grim reminder that no one, not even celebrities, is protected from the dangers of prison. Others view the incident through the lens of karma, pointing to Lanez’s conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Despite the polarization, a portion of Lanez’s supporters continues to wish him well, hoping this moment sparks change. Whether it leads to growth, reflection, or simply survival remains uncertain.

What’s undeniable is that Tory Lanez nearly died. As he begins to heal, the world watches to see what he does with the time he’s been given. His next steps—creative, legal, or personal—will define the rest of his story.
