In a recent turn of events, Young Thug will avoid prison despite a heated social media post, refuting allegations from the Fulton County DA’s office.

On April 2, the District Attorney submitted a motion arguing that Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffery Williams, should be imprisoned for allegedly threatening police detective Marissa Viverito. The contentious post, which has since been removed, featured an image of Viverito with a caption branding her as the “biggest liar in the DA office.” This situation arises in the context of an important preliminary hearing for a gang-related murder case involving fellow rapper Lil Baby, with Viverito being a key witness.

Currently, Young Thug is serving a 15-year probation stemming from a plea deal related to a RICO case that involved him and his YSL group, which was settled last year. The prosecution maintained that his behavior represents a “clear and present danger to public safety” and threatens the integrity of the judicial system.

However, Judge Whitaker ultimately rejected the motion to revoke his probation. While recognizing that Thug’s social media behavior was imprudent, she concluded that it did not justify incarceration. “After reviewing the probation terms set by this Court, I decline to revoke the Defendant’s probation based on the alleged infraction,” Whitaker stated, advising Thug to exercise more caution regarding certain topics moving forward.

In reaction to the District Attorney’s assertions, Young Thug took to X to declare, “I don’t make threats to people; I’m a good person. I would never endorse anyone threatening anyone or engage in such behavior. I’m all about peace and love.” His lawyer, Brian Steel, criticized the prosecution’s motion as baseless, asserting that while intimidation is intolerable, Thug has not engaged in any wrongdoing. “We plan to seek a dismissal of this petition,” Steel stated.

This incident follows another provocative post from Thug concerning the circumstances surrounding the death of rapper Young Scooter. Initially reported as resulting from injuries sustained in a police chase, Thug claimed that Scooter was shot by law enforcement. In response, the Atlanta Police and the Fulton County Medical Examiner swiftly released autopsy results, clarifying that Scooter had sustained a penetrating injury not caused by a gunshot: “Mr. Bailey suffered a penetrating injury to his right thigh that led to significant blood loss. This injury was not a gunshot wound,” officials confirmed.
